Hey folks, a first post from a regular lurker here!

I have a dermal anchor in the madison positon. After a couple of months of on and off irritation, i noticed it had started to twist to one side. Just so happens this is the side where the small part of the base is.

Now i'm good with my piercing aftercare, and well educated, using 2-4 daily medical saline soaks intially or when things aren't settled. For swelling or rejections i use a dab of neam oil, which suits me well on past piercings. This would settle my anchor down, but not for long.

Now i figure the placement is the main issue. It gets a fair bit of movement, and the odd rub on a collar.
I also wonder if my piercer was somewhat misguided in placing the footplate horizontally?
Either way, i guess i'm gonna lose it.

Anyway here is my question, as i've had an idea...
Downward pressure on a normal rejecting piercing will increase rejection by forcing blood out the area and placing pressure on the bar/ring. What about on an anchor? Would it be possible to push the jewellery down enough in relation to surrounding tissue to relieve pressure and reheal any migration?

What experiences have folks had with dermal anchor rejection?

Usually i'd drop by my piercer, but i'm on nights all week....

I wouldn't think you could prevent rejection if it has already started.  If there is a lot of movement in the area and irritation from clothing, this will continue to happen, and you will continue to face rejection issues.  I guess it is worth a try.

I'm pretty resigned to losing it, as it seems placement and movement are the issue, it's inevitable really.

I just figured that this might help in situations where rejection begins from a single trauma?
A way of halting or reversing the process different from that for piercings?

I know people who have tried to tape them down to see if they grow back but I dunno how successful that was. Dam Micordermals aren't all they are cracked up to be my piercer knows the guy who invented them and he even agrees. I have had so many reject but just keep putting them back in. It helps if they are dug really far in but I dunno good luck :)

Well i've tried strapping it down, just to see what'll happen, as i couldn't get to piercer, and it would have rejected by now.

3 days in and it seems to have helped a bit, as all the visible irritation has gone, and it's now sitting in a better position and somewhat deeper.

Still not enough really, and i figure that it was too late in the process to put it back in the original placement. Seems like the fistula has changed shape a bit.

I'd definately try it in future though if i noticed the beginnings of a similar process.
I also wonder if doing this in the early stages would help it settle, and therefore make it more resilient to the odd knock later?

For the record i've been doing a saline soak, drying with sterile gauze, putting fresh sterile gauze on it, and strapping down tightly with Leucosilk. Dressing change twice in a 24hr period.

Well maybe it wasn't too late, as it's now positioned perfectly, with no signs of irritation or rejection!

Huzzah!

An update if anyone wants to know!

I took the dressig off after my last post, and after 24hrs noticed a little movement. So i returned to taping it down. I left it 48hrs (oops!) as i was on nights and too knackered to be bothered... :s

Removing the dressing, there was a little lymph, and some swelling, but the position was good. Behind the anchor there seemed to be a little lump. I've taken that to be lymph build up, and used hot camomille compresses and salt soaks as before.

Currently it looks great, with no movement or irritation.
I don't want to speak tooo soon, but it seems to have halted the rejection process...for now at least!

How's it looking?

I have 3 forearm microdermals the 1st of which I've had a little trouble with...

After a week of letting it settle in the missus managed to half pull it out (just the heel end) and I had to push it back in. I taped it down but ever since it has been sitting a little wonky.

It's been this way for about a 4 months now, not sure what I did last night but today it's pretty red and swollen?!? Any ideas?

My piercer told me I should be keeping it as dry as possible, so no salt water soaks, long showers etc. They've been in my stomach for just over a week now and I've had no irritation from them whatsoever.
