Skin Pocket
A pocket just like a normal pocket in your pants but in your skin
Would it be posible to make a open wound that would heal forming a pocket ?
or would you have to have a linner implanted, something along the lines of a pocket protector shape...
If so what type of material could be used?
where could it be safely located?
and how would it be implanted
I personal (not doing much research) was thinking a rubber silicone shaped like a pocket protetor being implanted with a "pocketing" procedure at the top of my forearm
kind of out there but abit of a dream i have
any help and input is much apreciated

Maybe something like the silicone breast implant material? I think a lot of it would depend on what materials the body would or would not reject and how you'd get the wound to adhere to the material and heal properly.

That wasn't really a pocket in the useable sense, it was just a wound he was playing with.
For a functional one, you'd probably need a material to line the pocket, obviously it'd need to be something that the body doesn't automatically want to reject.
Silicone could work, but it'd need a coating that makes the body more likely to accept it, something along these lines, but that coating is closer to bones, not normal tissue, so a new one would need to be devised.
It'd also need to be tough, you wouldn't want it to break, but the surrounding tissue would also need to be able to resist whatever forces they'd be subjected to by whatever you put in the pocket.
So no, you probably won't be seeing something like for a decade or so.

actually that was fairly temporary. the man pictured is into some really intense play, and that was one of the wounds from it. i assume he was just playing around with it.
as for the idea itself, i'm not sure how well it would work. i don't know much about this sort of thing but to me it screams out infection and possibly necrosis. if it was attempted though you would need a sort of "liner" to get it to heal, maybe something made of silicone or PTFE. that said though i'm not sure how well or even if the blood flow would stay constant to the area of skin that creates the pocket over time, and that's why necrosis pops into my head.
Veilside beat me to it.

Necrosis came to mind for me too, for the reasons that Eaten just said.
You might be able to do it with something of a bipedal flap? I swear I remember seeing something about this procedure in the forums, but I can't seem to find anything about it now... I will go a-hunting though.

I think it's an awesome idea. I was thinking maybe put a sub-dermal implant in where ever you want the pocket. Let that heal first. Then reopen the space and insert your liner and then all you have to do heal is the opening. It is basically a massive transdermal piercing.
