I finally did a chest suspension. My most feared suspension. And it wasn't too bad! The hooks were almost painless, pressure and a poke coming out. (6ga Mustad, 12/0 stainless sea demon). Going up was hard, I had to pull, stop, pull, walk back and forth, and finally I was on one foot, and I just pulled, handed the ropes off to Tye, and hung. I immediately had trouble breathing. The pain wasn't that bad. But I panicked a bit, because I couldn't breathe well, and hyperventilated. Tye coached me through it and I hung for maybe 5-10 minutes before I couldn't take the breathing thing anymore and came down. It was also quite hot out (we did it off a tree in his yard). I tore a bit, I have nice bruises that I'm taking pictures of every day. It was AMAZING. I didn't think I could do it. I had serious doubts. When I was on the table taking hooks, I was calm. (Tye goes "first or second breath?" and I go "first" and he goes "third, are you crazy?!", haha. First is easier for me...) I have complete confidence in Tye, he has suspended my many times and held my hands as I went up for my first (4pt suicide) suspension. I trust him. I'm going to try it again with a new type of hook. Apparently more comfortable and less tearing. My goal is to get to a 1pt chest. Next week, 2pt resurrection!

Congrats! I'm not sure I could do it if I had to pull myself...I'd consider it if someone else pulled me up...maybe. Your profile pix looks great by the way :)

Thanks! I always pull myself up. I feel like there's more control that way. I almost handed off the ropes to Tye and took my friends hands though.. Not an easy suspension.

See thats the difference, you like the control when pulling yourself up...I don't like control when it comes to piercings, or my suspension...but all the more power to ya! Actually my arms went a bit weak when I first went up, so I don't think I could pull myself up if I wanted!

congratulations. i'd love to try a chest suspension myself, but with my scarification piece and how easily i mark up, i really don't want to have the marks interfere. and i'd love to have the chance to pull myself up. if i went through with it the entire time who knows, but i'd love to give it a shot. i myself would also like to try a resurrection style suspension in the future too, although i can't imagine it being one you could hang with for incredibly long without special rigging. i know coma suspensions are a bit annoying for that too. but regardless, i would like to give it a shot! i myself would also love to try a one point suicide suspension, and based on my previous/first and only suspension which was a two point suicide i think it is quite do-able. only issue i had was that my skin was pulled so far from my body that i couldn't move my arms and they got stiff after a few minutes, and my oh my did my muscles cramp up that night, haha.
good luck with the future suspension(s, i assume) to come.

Thas the one thing that happens alot wit suicide and chest suspensions. I hate it when i get stiff. The resurrection is a bad ass suspension. You will love it. I did. I didn't stay up for long. But its was a Bad ASS Kodak moment!!

Well, placement plays a big deal in stiffness.. for my suicides, I've been able to move and swing and didn't get sore in my arms later.. I did a 1pt, then added another hook because of comfort, and swung around, had a smoke, etc...
Chest suspensions are a full 180 from suicides..
