So my friend has had her septum pierce for quite some time (her only piercing) and has a horseshoe ring in it. She didn't want to go through making an account just to ask this question, but she wants to know if she can wear a curved barbell in it (for new job reasons) to help conceal it better?
Thanks for the help!
The way it is positioned, she can't flip the hoop inside her nose.

Hmm, wish I could see her anatomy. But, they do make septum retainers that are typically a bit wider with no ends that are much easier to "flip up."
Or a straight plug with a couple O-rings would do the trick as well. I would honestly, advise her to go see her piercer and see what they have in stock. Then she should be able to get a good quality piece for a much better price than you will find at Hot Topic or something and she will know it will work.

A curved barbell has a tendency to not flip upward like you may think it would. If she cannot flip it upward, I would recommend a smaller diameter ring or even a small plug. A plug would hide it well, especially if it's clear. :)

I will say that if she plans on changing the jewelry at all outside of her job, she should definitely practice putting o rings on the plug ahead of time. My septum was done at 10 ga, and I have a hell of a time putting o rings on if I wear a plug, so I'm guessing if her piercing is any smaller than that, it definitely wouldn't be easier..
