A friend has somewhat stupidly tattooed his leg, and overworked a section of it quite badly.
He asked for aftercare advice, and i suggested the usual tattoo care, but don't have any particular suggestions for this situation.

Anyone have any tips?

i say let him scar, let him bleed, let him hurt..... stupidity should be painful...

the professional in me says that standard tattoo aftercare will do fine.. .

if he doesn't care about the tattoo (as it seems he doesn't) he could just let it scab and heal naturally....

I had a friend that was a tattoo artist that overworked one of my tattoos, quite a few years ago (he went WAY too deep!).. I just used standard tattoo aftercare. To this day the damn thing still has dead skin peeling from it even though I lotion it regularly.

My advice is to try to heal a very overworked tattoo as if it is a large surface wound rather than a tattoo. It is better to lose some of the tattoo design than to have a scar. A tattoo can always be touched up or re-done (by a better artist) but a large raised scar is a long term problem.

Thanks for the input. I think he's learned a couple of lessons!

Having said that it's not too bad actually, he just didn't realise that inner thigh skin is more delicate than the top i think!
Let's see how it heals though!
