... you think teenagers' hair styles just look plain stupid. Seriously, I can tell I'm nearly 30 cause all these young heads simultaneously sporting uber long fringes with short hedgehog spikes sticking up at the back just look ridiculous to me!

In that case I've pretty much always been an adult. lol I'm always amazed by how much product can go into a very limited amount of hair.

I've found that the less hair one has, the more product goes into it.
... I must be wise beyond my years - only 22 and I too think young hairstyles are just ridiculous. There's a fine line between being modern and just plain dumb.

Kids had the hairstyle you described while i was in highschool. Long in front and short and spiky in the back. I hate the white kid 'fro and the long emo hair that's always in the kids face...I'm definitely old.

| Hmm... I'm 20 and I have several friends who are married, two of them divorced, one divorced with children. And my longest girl who I was with for 4 years is having a kid and planning on marriage within the next few months... Stop it, I don't want to feel old!

How can they possibly expect me to take them seriously when they look so ridiculous?

One of my friends is engaged, she quit college and moved with her fiance to Boston after he graduated. Two more are engaged (and getting married after they finish college). Several of the people from my high school already have children a few years old. (Many got knocked up while they were still in high school.) Another friend quit college and is living with her high school boyfriend (not engaged or anything), and works at a clothing retailer.
It seems a lot of my friends sacrificed their careers for their relationships. Sad.

You know when you're a proper adult when your own teenager comes home from school to tell you about drama with his best friend and girlfriend, then tells you your piercings and tattoos are so last year, along with something like "Mom, you're so old and weird. Get with it."
...then you call up your own mother and apologize for everything you ever did as a kid.
That's when you've really hit adulthood. It isn't pretty. :D
(Motherhood rocks, though)

I will become an adult when someone proves to me that there no magic, no aliens and no dragons. Until then I will continue my life of drinking tea and working in a castle. Life is too short to waste it acting like an adult!
I like seeing weird hair styles, they are interesting to me.

Is it just me or is there a delightful irony in a body modification community discussing why hairstyles are cack? I mean, your hair is part of your body right? So styling or dying your hair is a very low level body modification.
Personally, I love seeing people be a bit creative with their hair. Even if it looks horrible, you can just grow it out or shave it or whatever. It's not permanent, so why not have some fun with it?

Well for me your personnal gallery displays typical teen hair looking just plain stupid, simultaneously sporting uber ridiculous colors.
That is, if you don't want to be judged stupidly by idiots (for your hair, mods, behavior, and for anything linked with your freedom to be yourself), don't do it with other people.
As a side note, Dali had a strange moustache, and Einstein had a caricatural haircut. Your criteria obviously put them in the "retard" category. Another clear proof that your criteria are absolutely not up do date.
Maybe you should try to check the web for new drivers for brain updates.

You know you're a proper adult when you've had a party where everyone sat around the dinner table all night, the talk was louder than the music and there are more empty bottles of red wine than empty bottles of vodka... ...and you can't get up from a couch without some sort of vocalization :D

I've sported many many hair styles over the years, the worst of which when I was a teen and would have deemed older people judging me as old farts who didn't get me... and now I am one of those...

That's exactly what I was saying. You were even more stupid before than you are today. The positive thing in the previous statement is that there's an improvement (and a lot of room for it).
So be happy. To become even smarter, I show you the way.

So be happy. To become even smarter, I show you the way. | Rouslan as an ardent fan of the english language I do admire your opposition and obstinence and eloquence. However, you do pick the wrong target my darling when you accuse someone of being stupid. This was a facetious thread borne of many years of floating around the rock and body mod community. Every time I feel old (which is pretty much a daily occurance, with two marriages and lots of other relationships behind me, kids grown up) I try to make sure I'm still learning and growing.
I don't mean in some kind of touchy-feely newagey way, either. I just mean that age only kicks in when you let the concrete set.
Like Dylan said, "either you're busy being born again or you're busy dyin'."
That, or I wear my vintage Clash T-shirt and take pride that it still fits.
