Subject: Heavily tattooed
Date Posted: September/13/2009 at 5:59pm

The other day someone described me as "heavily tattooed". I don't think of myself as "heavily" tattooed. I've probably got around 10% to 15% of my total body area covered at the moment and plan to eventually have around 75% of my body tattooed.

At what point do you think someone is "heavily tattooed"?

At every point in my progress I have pretty much always considered people with more tattoos than myself as heavily tattoo'd. That's probably down to jealousy on my part haha.

I definately wouldn't say I'm heavily tattoo'd though. Others disagree. But it seems that the people who consider me to be heavily tattoo'd have fewer tattoos than I do, never more.

Maybe my logic isn't so screwed after all? LOL

I personally think heavily tattooed would be some chest, back, both sleeves, and some legs. I have high standards, though.

This makes a lot of sense. I do not think many people refer to people with fewer tattoos than themselves as being heavily tattooed.

That would mean that someone would need more tattooed than bare skin to qualify. I have a few years to go to meet those standards (I should have maybe 20% coverage by the end of 2009).
I like the idea of having a high standard :)

Gah face, hand, throat tattoos. I don't see tattooing as an extreme or "heavy" modification unless it begins to alter someone's life. Even then it will still take a lot more ink than that for me to consider someone "heavily" tattooed.

when the only space you have left for tattoos is your eyelids, inner cheeks, and the space between your balls and asshole.... then, you're heavily tattooed...

I don't think just two sleeves worth is heavily tattooed.  Because what if the rest of their body isn't tattooed?  It's kind of misleading when someone just has sleeves and nothing else lol.

I also get the idea of heavily tattooed as being something more like body suits, or partial ones...but i find it quite , well, odd, when kids go and get their throat tattooed when they have no other tattoos...because places like hands and throat have a bit more of a 'heavy'(for want of a better word) vibe thing going on for me....

I'd say 20% coverage, ish. Heavily tattooed doesn't mean heavily modified in my opinion though.. It's like someone who's heavily pierced, they're modified, but until you branch into multiple forms of modification, it's hard for me to call someone heavily modified. I don't consider myself as such. I consider myself heavy IN TO modification, but that's a distinction of interest.

People on the streets that look at me would consider me "heavily tattooed" and "heavily modified" but that's because they are dumb and ignorant.
Yes most of my tattoos and piercings are very visible but I do not consider myself anywhere close to heavily modified. YET !!

50%+ tattoo coverage would be heavily tattooed in my opinion

I don't think I will ever reach that level. I plan to have my arms and legs covered, a full back piece, most of my chest and maybe the tops of my feet, so around 70 - 80% skin coverage. I work in a pretty conservative sector (museums) so any mods visible when I wear a shirt are not to my advantage.

I agree totally. They are different things. Although maybe 95 or 100% tattoo coverage may also count as heavily modified because it would be hard to argue that someone that tattooed had not modified their appearance to a large extent.

True story. I can't argue that at all. =D  I just think someone could easily be considered "heavily tattooed" and yet not considered "heavily modified"... which is odd, since it is obviously modifying them.. just an odd mindset perhaps.

that's the beauty of it.... no one, if not just a very very very few, has a dingleberry tattoo... .

therefore, you have the perfect opportunity to make one look good and turn the public opinion....

Heavily tattood in my eyes would be sleeves extending onto the back of the persons hands, up onto their throat and I suppose on the top of their feet.

The thing we have to remember is everyone here is very open and supportive of modding, so what we see as heavily tattood might just seem insane to the average joe(cunt).

since ive moved to sheffield, and even amongst my friends in bristol ive been considered havily tattooed,
i dont know whether they mean compared to them, or in general, but ive only got maybe a sleeves worth of workn at most(but in different places over my body)
i dont consider myself heavily tattooed in any way at all,
even when ive reached my goal of sleeves, leg sleeves, a full chest piece and a back piece, i still wont consider myself heavily tattooed.
to me, 85% of your body or over is heavily tattooed.along with facial work.
