Lately I've been pulling on my tongue ring to help stretch it so it's easier to gauge. I like the feeling of pulling on my tongue ring and have been thinking about splitting my tongue. This guy Nick I work with was telling me his friend used fishing line to split his tongue. Everyday he would take some fishing line and rub it back and forth pulling on it until it started to bleed. Once it started to bleed he would stop. After 2 months his tongue was split and it lasted 10 years before it started to heal. I was just wondering what you're thoughts were. I don't think there's anyone local that does tongue splitting.

yeah you could use the binding technique...
but from what i heard it's a pretty painful method... |

i don't know anything about tongue splitting, but that sounds very dangerous...
but are you saying that if you do it like that it is not permanent? |

If you stretch your tongue piercing larger you can pretty much get rid of regrowth all together. I would say just stretching until it can be easily cut with a scalpel, you can order those on the net im sure.
The tie off method will be painful and like you said doesn't completely get rid of regrowth.

The tie off technique will work but it's definitely wayyy more of a pain than its worth. I'd say your best bet is to seek out an experienced practitioner and get it over with the fast easy way.

Hmm...
I've been toying around with the idea myself. I probably won't start on it for at least another yearish, there are some other things I want to get done first. But, I do have a friend with it done. He stretched his tongue piercing quite a bit then when he started to "split" it he took the bind method approach. Though, he didn't make it bleed to the best of my knowledge. What he told me was he would loop the fishing line from the piercing to the tip and tighten it until it was uncomfortable and leave it for a day or so before repeating the process. Eventually, he said he got used to it and could speak normally with it being tied. Though, it took him a week or so to do it. He spent a few months with this method and it at least worked for him. Though, when he got close to splitting it he had it done with a scalpel and said it was at a point where splitting it was quite quick. I hope this helps, but, I can't be held responsible if the information isn't 100% accurate as I didn't do this myself. |

i really wanna get mine split n im either gonna get a piercing n size it up then bind or just get enough cash n have a doc laser it...but that can be anywhere from $500-$1000...maybe 2 tongue piercings in a row n size that up which would probably be easyer cuz then you can get them to say a 4g n use the fishing line on the first one n then later on the second one to make it deeper

from what I hear from shops here, they recomend stretching your tongue to atleast 10-15mm. this prevents the growing back together, on smaller sizes it can still grow back.
Im going to use this method when all my current stuf is healed. Imo stretching this big will give you ample time to be sure of what your doing. (im not saying youre not shure :D, but I'm not 100% sure heheheheh) |
