check your jewelery to make sure thare are no uneven spots or burrs, sometimes irritations like that will cause problems. other than that i have no clue why they would just spontaneously bleed.

Maybe also add some information on a newly pierced stretch?
I.e. what material to use as initial jewelry, the maximum size you should get when getting it pierced, how long to leave the initial jewelry in, how to take it out after that period of time, how to keep the stretch clean and healthy afterwards etc...

(I know it's a lot, but i think this information could be helpful for new people, like myself ;) )

I thought I would put my 2 cents in and ask a question. I have never gone larger than 4ga in anything but a hafada. I have always used antibiotic ointment with a petroleum Jelly base. This is what I have always had the piercing parlors use so I figure it must work. I have not had any problem or infection using this method. I was advised the first time I got pierced not to get over 10ga for an initial piercing. This has worked well for me.

My question is; how hard are the saddle type plugs to get in and out?

Does the hole need to be well healed at that size to ware them?

So I saw my piercer today.  He checked my jewelry, it's fine, but said something is irritating it.  He said either dust mites on my pillow (since I do sometimes sleep on that side), or from germs on my phones...or when I took my jewelry out I might have pulled something through...like a hair or fuzzy... something I'm doing is cuasing my ear problems.  So when at home I used alcohol swabs and cleaned all the phones, and changed my pillow case.  Well I just went to soak my ear & it gushed blood.  When I held a flashlight behind it I thought it looked like maybe the skin inside was torn....I'm screwed aren't I?

No you're not screwed.  You need to baby the piercing and do frequent soaks.  Keep a close eye on it to make sure it does not get infected, and watch the spot that looks torn to make sure it does not get any bigger.  The bleeding was caused by some form of irritation or another.  Since you sleep on that side you could have dragged some dried crusties down into the hole.  Those things have the potential to tear the sensitive tissue.  I've seen it happen quite a few times.

I must say it's starting to feel a bit better, still a little blood with last nights soak, but less than before.  I'm trying to wear my hair up, not sleep on it, and answer the phone on the other side, so hopefully that will help.

For people new to stretching, that was pretty good information, and helpful for those interested in it.
I know my share about stretching lobes and keeping them healthy, and I even make some of my own jewelry, howeverrr; I came across a problem, I need help with xD
I've been stretching my lobes for the past 3 years, I'm now only at 5/8.
I stretch with tape, as well as tapers. Right now I'm using tapers. Anywho, I'm at 5/8, with the taper size. I've bought some Flesh Tunnels, however, they seem to, hmm, Thin I suppose I could say, yes, Thin. The gauge size is perfect, however its just too thin, it goes through but the back end wont stay on, it's really irritating =/.
So would it be better to get new ones possibly thicker, if you know what I mean by thin/thickness in my current tunnels, or just better off with my own?

I'll try to explain the thin/thickness problem I'm having.
The tunnel itself.

& the thickness.

It's too thin.

Dinosaur what i think your trying to explain is what's called a wearable area.

I have had the same problem with a pair of tunnels i bought when i was at 35mm. It just means you need to try and look for jewelery with a bigger wearable area.
Measure how long you current jewellery is and add on however many mm's you need to make your ear fit in comfortably.

If you wear jewellery with a wearable area that is too small it can lead to a lot of trouble (from my experience with clients and also some personal experience)
Hope this helps dinosaur

How large has anybody out there stretched upper ear non-cartilage piercings. I have two 8ga with single flair tunnels. I have had up to 4ga circular barbells in them but the weight made them hurt. For that and some work related reasons I did not ware anything in them for the last few years. I would like to go to 4 or 2ga. What is the best thing to ware in them.
