Quote they_know Replybullet Topic: Where do I get Provon or Satin
    Posted: October/10/2003 at 1:06am

I'm looking for a new method of aftercare for my piercings. I have two rings in my cartilege, which will form an industrial once the wounds are healed. Currently I use Bactine, which is all right. The only thing is, since it comes in a liquid form,  it's annoying to use. If I spray it on the wounds, I can't be sure that it actually gets inside, even if I turn the rings. I usually hold a Bactine soaked q-tip next to the wounds and then turn the rings, but this is hard to do without pulling the rings and agitating the piercings. Besides, most of it ends up going down the drain and I'm constantly having to buy more Bactine.

SO... I've that soaps called Provon and Satin are really wonderful for piercings. Using a soap would make my routine far easier on my piercings. The only thing is, I can't find either of them anywhere. (I live in Canada.) When I ask pharmacists about these products they just look at me funny and tell me they've never heard of them. Where do you find Provon and/or Satin? Does anyone know? I can't even find unscented antibacterial soap, which is basically all Provon and Satin are. I tried using (scented) Softsoap on my other industrial and it worked for awhile, but then the piercings got all pissy. I think it was the heavy fragrance they didn't like. (Oddly enough, Softsoap worked fine for my hood piercing.)

If no one knows where to get Provon/Satin, maybe someone could suggest a better aftercare method. I'm guessing salt soaks are okay on a very new piercing, so I'm going to try that too.

I actually bought the WRONG satin soap and it worked out great for me, your own mileage may vary.

I bought Jason's Satin Soap as it was the only one available with out going 2 hrs down to my piercer. This is all herbal if that matters to you. Anyone else use this on a piercing before? I guess whatever works and keeps the infection away.

Dial is based on the chemical Tryclosan.....not the same thing as Satin and Provon...they are based on PCMX or Chlorynoxinol.......much less irriating than tryclosan.....

You wont go to hell using Dial....but it is not the same thing or as good

Many good shops sell the stuff....I do

hm.. i'm guessing i'd have to order it online from your shop. i'm only worried that it will end up costing a fortune if i have to ship it across the border.

i'm afraid a scented soap like dial will cause it to get all pissy, as the last one did.

i think i'll just stick with what i'm doing for now. i've been using the salt soaks and that seems to work. but the damn Bactine runs out so fast! i'm going through a bottle a week! ordering satin or something online may not end up being any more expensive after all. how much would you charge for either of those soaps?

we usually charge 3 bucks to ship unless the weight makes it cost more, and Provon is 5 bucks a bottle, we sell a generic Bactine for 3 bucks a bottle....
