If you don't have the proper jewelry, you shouldn't of stretched your ear. Before stretching you should be prepared with next size up jewelry. Sticking random things in your ear is never a good idea, and petroleum Jelly is definitely not going to do any good for your ear, especially since you just stretched it.
I would downsize back to that 12g that you have, let your ear calm down for a couple weeks (makesure you clean it with sea salt soaks), BUY proper sized jewelry in the meantime and then try to stretch up to that 10g.
(:

After only a few hours your piercing won't shrink back. If you put the 12g in for the wedding, I'm sure you'll be able to stretch back up to 10g easily.
If not, follow tangerinee's advice. And don't put any random stuff into your piercings. |

you shouldn't be thinking about putting random objects in your piercings, expecially those which you found in your back garden. I wouldn't contemplate putting that in a healed piercing let alone a fresh stretch.
You have three options:
- Put the 12g back in for the wedding, if you were really ready to stretch to a 10g, you won't have a problem putting the 10g in afterwards.
- Go and buy a 10g plug before the family dinner. You shouldn't be wearing tapers as jewellery as they are heavy and put pressure on the fistula.
- Take your jewellery out and leave it out. Start stretching again when you're serious about it and will do it properly, rather than ignoring all the good advice you've been given.
And no, petroleum Jelly won't protect your ear, as it provides the ideal warm moist environment which bacteria thrive in.

I'm new here and just want to say... great advice! What's the hurry, you know?
I hope you decide to just slip the 12 back in for the party and go from there. |

at that size tapers are okay, its usually 6g+ that tapers become an issue |

Ah ha-ha, chess. The ancient contest of wits. Two opponents: mano a mano. Braino a braino. And look: magnets for ease of travel. You could play chess on the moon.
