Hi there.  All I can tell you is that I am just gauging mine a little currently.  I am going to a 10g and then possibly an 8 down the road if I am feeling it.  That was my thinking too.  Honestly, I don't know if they will shrink back down, but a 10g for me isn't too bad at all.  I have some little 14g in there now and just bought tapers to do the rest.  My work already has enough problems with my nose piercing...UGH!

(stretching not gauging)
I had mine at a 6ga, and due to an infection I had to take one out...it closed up in a few days.  I want to say that 0ga or 00ga is the point of no return...but I could be wrong...

ITS STRETCHIIIING!!! AARGHH!! gauging is a ridiculous word. people said 6g-4g,is the point of no return or even 0g like mentioned up there but i'm not sure bout that. it depends on one's regenerative process.

I think that generally, once it's at 4g or above and healed, they'll stay that way. I had mine that size for three years, whilst wearing no proper jewellery in it. When I finally decided I wanted the jewellery in, it just popped in brilliantly.

But then it's all down to speculation. Everyone's different.
Glimmi says: But yeah theres that old saying you can't judge a book by it's cover, cause it could have like 60 piercings in it's cock......Well that's not how the saying actually goes but you get my point.

I had my lobes at 7/16 (just over 11mm) with no jewellery in for 3, maybe 4 years, and they didn't close up a tiny bit. I think you have to see it as permanent if you go past 5mm.

i'm stretching my ears now. i was at a 6g but i'm using teflon tape and emu oil so i have no idea how big my ears are right now. i'm waiting for some 4g jewelry to come in the mail. you can ask uraniumhobo, he knows a lot about stretching.

Ok...so the OP and I said gauging.  The person who replied after me corrected us.  why is there a need to make the post about the difference btwn stretching and gauging now?  Half of the people have helped answer the question and half of the people are going off on something that was caught and corrected.  Let it go.
