ive had my tongue picered for over a year now. and im just wondering being that ive had it for that long could i take the barbell out for extended periods of time without the hole growing shut. ive heard rumors of the hole growing shut when the piercing has been in longer than ive had mine it. so is that just a buncha bull shit or is it ture?

It's different for every person, the person that told you it will close could be right, the ones telling you it will stay open could be right

their experience and advice is based on stuff that worked for them....no guarantee yours will act the same way

the longer you wait the better your chances, and we usually say at a year you should be golden.....

but there are no guarantees, test it some time you know the piercing shop is open, that way if you can't get it back in, they can do it for you

When I'm curious if a hole will stay open for periods of time, I test the area for short periods of time first.  I try for 20 minutes at first, then see how tight the hole becomes.  If it stays nice and loose, then I go to an hour, then a few hours, then a day, etc.
