I am a branding/piercing snob, but I generally try not to say offensive things to other people about their art. If my opinion is asked, I will give it in an honest, polite manner.

Yes I am a tattoo snob and if someone asks me my opinion on a tattoo or artist I'm going to answer honestly but I do try to be as nice as possible about it and hopefully get them to see the light.
Don't get me wrong as I have a bit of half-ass work on my own body.I wish someone had been more honest with me in the past so I could've got it done right the first time.
Damn these human beings; if I had invented them I would go hide my head in a bag.

My personal opinion on this topic?

I think its sad that art which can mean so much to a person can be looked down upon because it may not be of that particular persons 'standard'

Of course a well done tattoo is very nice to look at, and a bonus, but is that the only reason we get ink inbedded into our skin?

Many of you will look on my profile and see a tattoo of a horse. My first tattoo, yes. It is nicely done, not perfect after looking back over it no. But would I get it done by some one else because of it? No.

I got that tattoo at a time that was right for me, that meant the most to me at that time. I kind of needed that as a final ending to a really bad experience I got out of. I didn't rush it, infact I waited two months to find some one who was capable of producing what I had in mind.
The tattoo symbolises to me, everything I am and that I have. And what I would like to continue living by; Freedom, Courage, Strength, Intellegence and Head strong/Highly Strung a bit. All these things represented to ME by one very simple, cute tattoo. I look at it each day and I am reminded of this and how I am every one of these things . It means alot to me and reminds of a very bad experience I came through strong!
So if people don't like it because of how it looks? What a shame.

Don't judge a book by its cover.

Satisfaction is found on my own.

i think if the got it, then it means something to them, and putting it down will only make them feel bad or doubt themselves.
if she knew it was a beginner when she got it done, I'm sure she wasn't expecting absolutely fabulous, but the tattoo may not be the same quality as some, but it still has meaning to the person.
yes, some "quality" is better, but that doesnt mean the tattoo is better overall.you can have a fantastic tattoo and have it mean nothing, and you can regret that too.
in fact i'd rather have something that meant alot to me that was not as great than a piece of art that i didn't like.

Instead of stating your opinion, why not just ask her if she's happy with it? That way, you won't have to give your opinion, merely say you're happy for her that she got one she likes. Deal with it tactfully, you don't need to be rude.
