Hi!
Im going on a trip to the US soon and I was woundering if you need to take your jewellery out, when you go through a metaldetector? And how about pointed jewellery, can I use that or do i need something that is more rounded? Thanks in advance :D Edit: Metaldetector. Edited by Loqi - October/02/2008 at 9:20am |

I have never had problems. Though I did read an article a couple of months ago about a woman who was made to take her nipple rings out before they would let her on the plane.

If you go through the detector and the security people see that you have the piercings in, I doubt they'll ask you to remove them. If you have hidden piercings (ones under clothing), however, they might make you take those out.

I've never had an issue with wearing jewelry through airports (and I've travelled from the UK to US and back), out of not wanting to cause problems though I make sure I'm not wearing any long spikes.
(although on my way back from Montana I accidently did that - forgot I had the long spiked labret stud in my lip until I got on the plane and the air hostess asked if it hurt!) I've never set off a metal detector :( Edited by stuffsh - October/02/2008 at 10:21am |

iv never had troubles with metal detectors, and i travel a fair bit to visit my dad and what not. generally my belt buckle doesnt even set them off, and its a massive CBB. Also, at the hight of the terrorist scare, when they werent even allowing people to take newspapers on the plane and were binning mobile phones at the 4th security check point, i got on to a plane with my hand spikes screwed in, the stewardess' and i found it very amusing.

It really shouldn't cause you any problems.
Pointed jewelry, I would seriously reccomend taking out though. In big airports, they are going to hassle you. |
