[QUOTE=you-fail-me]

I'm more interested in the tattoo side of things than anything else and tbh the forums really don't cater for that....it seems to be more a of a piercing oriented forum. Not many people seem that into tattoos here. But whatever. It's probably just because none of us are starting interesting tattoo based threads.

I agree to that. It's almost just about piercing. But if that  is going to change, we have to be more active ourself.

i do agree to an extent, id like to see more mod posts or atleast some revival     of some old mod threads, but honestly thats now what bothers me, like others have said its just how easy the pro status gets flung about which irritates me, i think the diversity in the threads though help us come together as a community as it gives everyone something to talk about
Ah ha-ha, chess. The ancient contest of wits. Two opponents: mano a mano. Braino a braino. And look: magnets for ease of travel. You could play chess on the moon.

oh christ, i can't be arsed reading all this.
and i think that's my main point.

i'm not on here as much lately because i'm very busy. because of that i only really post in things that i can get a bit of sense out of, and things that are light hearted. i don't want to trail through 7 or 8 pages because if i don't i won't understand what's being said.

i used to post on a lot of piercing forums, but at the moment i'm too tired to think properly and more often than not the point i was going to make has already been made. i find it hard to post in the tattoo forums because i don't know a lot about tattooing in particular, and i'm sure as hell not good at designing so i can't suggest what things people should get.

the games do irritate me.. as sometimes i see 11 active games and 4 or 5 active topics and think *my god, is that all people are doing??* i mean, i remember when there weren't ANY games. DAMN YOU LAURA0FACE AND YOU'RE WORD GAMES lolol look what you started!!!!
well i might have somethin' to say about that, space man!

the not enough pros on the site might depend on various things. if you look at certain pro's profiles, they state clearly that they will not be updating their journal over here, and are simply using this place as an outlet to show off their work through the galleries.

the not enough body modification related topics bit:
if i look back to when i was still fairly new over here, i used to start up new topics all the time. nowadays that i'm not getting modded as often as i used to, i don't feel the need to start up certain topics - and some of the questions which many post, i now already know the answer to, and simply take the time to reply to them unless someone else has already done that.

i do like to help out with ideas, yes. but sometimes the person popping up with the question "what should i get? help!!" simply didn't write enough info on what they like. it's like going to a bar and asking for something to drink. how should i know what you like and what not, unless you're someone i know fairly well?

regards open sourcing the site, sorry - can't be of any help there. i know jack shit about programming/coding.

i'd suggest going through this post and compiling all the valid ideas into one entry and posting that in the bus&suggestions section.

ok first thing first, i think that we should have forum post rules like most other forums have. some clear & basic rules. for example if a new members wanna get some advice, they should search for previous posts b4 opening up a new but similar thread & people need to answer all over again. this is just my opinion & example.
We do have basic rules. However, how do you force a newcomer to search for the advice first?Anything we do about it, ends in failure. Banning, well, thats horrible.. we could just delete their post... so they get no answer, and leave... we just tell them to search for it, so 90% will still leave... or we could just give them the answer, and in time, they will learn.

I think what could fix this is a page with frequently asked questions.. maybe called "frequently asked questions answered by pros". after a question was asked 5 or more times it could be put up and answered on that page. Itd be easy to find if there was a link to that page at the top of the forums and would probably prevent people asking them in the forums

Also i think that making portfolios better and more easily accesible would encourage more pros to come. Its very hard for me to see what are a pros personal mods and what is the work that they have done. I think there should be a completely different category for portfolios. If pros gained clients from this site i think they would frequent it a lot more, and if portfolios were easier to acess i think i would be able to find new artists/pros from here

Just because we all have body modification in common, it doesn't mean thats all we should talk about.

To a certain extent I do agree with you Rouslan, I usually just ignore the games section completely, and any topic started by hellboy gets skipped automatically. I don't mind doing this though, I just ignore those sorts of things and move onto the stuff i'm interested in.

If you could just quickly summarise for me Rouslan, what I (not a pro) could be doing to help make this site more modification orientated?

i agree with Jeeennnnniiiii in that i dont post on the forums nearly as much as i used to, mostly because i dont have the time to read through everything being said. though i did read through this one as it was quite heated at points.

however, i also agree with various others that i don't post as much because i dont have much to post about; some of the topics are ridiculous and often in the wrong forum (many props to the moderators for taking care of that, i certainly dont have the patience) but that's neither here nor there.

i can't say this is a problem with a definite solution. with more members comes a more diverse population of people with different ideas and a right to express them. and as long as they are following the rules of the forums and posting properly, they have no reason to be silenced...

...though it is annoying you're more likely to find the games topics more active than modification ones.

catch 22.

that's because everyone likes a game, not everyone likes piercing or scarification or suspension, etc...

to each their own

hell make the "general bs" forums one that you have to log into a second time if people dont want them crowding up the front forum
