![]() Topic: "Longer Navel Piercing"Posted: September/26/2008 at 3:52pm |

I've noticed everytime I get my Navel re-pierced the same thing happens, the skin thins out, it makes me want to give up on the piercing all together. But I was thinking, maybe if I get it done LONGER. It might work out alot better. Just a thought I had, thought it might end up being like a surface piercing, and have a chance of rejection. Hmm, just an idea/thought. Felt like sharing, since there might be others with same thought on mind, or opinions on this.

just get it through more skin, is that what you mean?
and if you do it under scar tissure (not through?) then i think it had less of a chance of migrating.
I had my top Navel ripped out years back, and got it repierced underneith, and its been fine for almost six years now Edited by xoerinxo - September/26/2008 at 4:07pm |

It may or may not work. Some people do well when pierced behind scar tissue, others will reject again and again regardless of placement. There's absolutely no way to tell how your body will accept a deeper Navel piercing. There are a few things that you can do to help your body accept the piercing. Stick to titanium jewelry. Not only is it the most hypoallergenic material, but it is also very lightweight. Make sure your jewelry is form-fitting at all times. Constant catching on clothing and such perpetuates migration and rejection. Normally I don't recommend changing jewelry until a piercing is well healed, but just like the lip and tongue, ill-fitting jewelry has the potential to cause more problems in the long run than a quick downsizing would. Do not wear anything that hangs or dangles, this type of jewelry can cause migration due to the weight of the charms. Be extremely diligent about your aftercare. Stick to sea salt soaks 3 times a day for the first few months and twice a day after that. Do not use any kind of chemical products, including soaps. I have noticed more migration after a person has experienced some form of irritation or infection. Those who did not experience irritation or infection at some point have not migrated significant amounts (I'm speaking generally, of course there's always those few that just can't easily accept Navel piercings). And most important, keep your fingers off. Not only do your nasty, dirty, icky fingers put you at risk for infection, touching and playing with the jewelry pulls on the piercing and makes it more likely to migrate/reject.

I posted it for other opinions on the mod, not on how to take care of piercings, I already know all of that is what I was saying.

Well maybe someone else didn't know. And you're welcome that I took the time to offer up my advice and possible solutions to your problem. Since you have rejected many times already, it seems like maybe you do actually need some advice on how to keep your piercings.
