I'm going to be getting my labret done soon. I'd like to eventually get to a larger gauge of jewelry. I found a piece that is oval in shape (about 14mm wide by 8mm high) and I'm just concerned what will happen to my lip. I'm afraid of my lower lip being pushed up and then I'll look funny. Is there a difference in this with stretching versus scalpelling? My thought would be that scalpelling would be better, but I'm just not sure. |

My thought would be stretching it would be better but slower, due to the fact I wouldnt think a scalpelled one would heal if you took it out. I had thought about getting my ear punched to a 0 gauge and decided against it for the same reason.

youl get the same results with either, its just a matter of patience, also scalpled labrets stretch easier, well some people say too easy as it stretched naturally and they cant stay at there goal size becuase it gets really loose and just falls out faster

Ah ha-ha, chess. The ancient contest of wits. Two opponents: mano a mano. Braino a braino. And look: magnets for ease of travel. You could play chess on the moon.

I agree with hobo. And clarist, both punched and stretched ears/labrets will never 'heal' if you use the word 'heal' with the meaning that they'll re-go back at 18g or disappear.
I would personally go for stretching, though it is just a personal opinion. |

Go with stretching, take the time to get up to your goal size, either way, you'll eventually get there. Just have a bit of patience & it'll look great in the end =]

Yep I meant heal as in going away. I dont know much about stretching labrets though, just know scalpelling you remove the flesh so figured that was permanent no matter what, minus plastic surgery. |

i thought scalpelling was a horizontal cut through your lip (because if you punch or scalpel vertically you ruin your muscle) followed by the insertion of jewelery. I would stretch. I hear much better feedback on stretching.
