Hey all,
This is my first post on here as I just joined today! I've got a fair few piercing & tattoos and I have no intention of stopping!
Just a quick question though. I got my bridge pierced about 4 months ago and it has been one hell of a pain in the ass to heal. I did all my usual aftercare, sea salt soaks etc and some days I would wake up and it would look healthy and normal and healed. Other days I would get up and have lymph and blood coming out of it :-(. I really don't get it because occasionally i'm still getting this problem, which I clearly shouldn't be, 4 months down the line!
Anyone had / has this problem and can shed some light?

I had a few issues with this because of jewellery.. Everything was fine until I put on some little spikes. The abr I had was long enough with balls on, but the flat backs of the spikes irritated the piercing like crazy, so I switched to a slightly longer bar, and now everything is good again.

Yeah i did put some spikes on a while back but im pretty sure they were too big as i kept snagging them on everything! I swapped them out and it did calm down for a while. Im still using the original bar I was pierced with so I doubt length is an issue, the piercer used a longer bar anyway to allow for swelling.

The bridge is a hard area to heal.  It's prone to migration and rejection.  Any type of irritation or snagging can significantly delay the healing process.  I still have problems with mine as well and it's been over 6 months.  Just keep up your sea salt soaks and things should calm down in the next few months.

I considered rejection but the piercing looks ok when its not oozing gunky stuff! :-)
Although in the past week or so it has been alright, but give it a few days and i will wake up, go to clean it, and as soon as the bar moves lymph will come out. I had the thought that maybe im knocking it when im sleeping. This too seems unlikely as im like a brick when im sleeping! :-D

Having lymph ooze out is nothing to worry about, it just means you're still healing.

But realistically 4 months is a fairly good period of time for most piercings to heal, is it common enough that i don't need to worry?
Sorry for the 3rd degree everyone but this one stumped me a treat :-D

4 months is usually enough for piercings that normally heal quickly and easily, but the bridge doesn't really fall into this category.  Nipples take longer, navels take longer, ear cartilage takes longer, etc.  Some piercings just don't heal quite as well as others.  Give it some time, and don't stress as long as you don't show signs of infection.
