So I just recently got my vch piercing ... saturday the 13th in fact ... and I'm starting to get paranoid about a slight pain I have. I have a barbell" target="_top">curved barbell in (what's used for Navel piercings) and the top hole hurts. It's more of a stinging feeling, and it happens whenever it's touched (aka, when I clean it).

I've been doing sea salt soaks once a day and when I'm in the shower I clean it with a unscented antibacterial soap and use the sweet detachable shower head to really clean the soap out. But even still, it still stings if it's moved. So I've been doing the whole don't touch it at all unless necessary but I'm starting to freak a bit. I'm reeeeeally hoping someone can shed some light on this for me.

You say the barbell is like that used in naval piercings.Does it have a larger ball on one end like a naval bar?
Damn these human beings; if I had invented them I would go hide my head in a bag.

yeah.... I'm actually going to buy some saline solution... and I'm kind of thinking that it was pus or something. Because I just did a soak and I was able to move the jewelry a bit without the sting.

It could be "crusties" that are causing the sting or the larger ball. That tissue is quite thin and the weight of the larger ball alot of times will irritate the piercing whilst healing.
I would suggest getting the ball changed first as it's the most likely culprit.

In addition to your great cleaning job with sea salt soaks and antibacterial soap, may I suggest you try using Bactine? Dab some on a Q-tip and work it in and around your hole both top and bottom. It's antibacterial and contains mild anesthetic. Works wonders on easing the pain. Don't use it too often though as it has tendency to dry out your piercing.
Violence solves everything!

Bactine is not for piercings!
Stop
Stop telling people to use it!

I'm going to stick with putting some saline solution on a q-tip for now. I'm just overly paranoid because of the location but all seems well this morning with it :D

If anyone has any other suggestions... that would be awesome.

If you can find some of those disposable shot glasses at your local market, those can be great for soaks. Fill 'em not quite all the way, and very awkwardly position your piercing in the little cup. Press it against your body nice and tight, and sit back. That particular spot might make it tricky to form a seal, but once you get the hang of it it will be much nicer and more effective than a wet Q-tip.

It's still fresh at only a week.  Most of the time, VCH's don't hurt at all after the first day or so, but it's not abnormal for it to still sting a little.  Definately change your bottom ball, as the weight could be causing irritation, and keep up with the saline soaks.
