my friend has an intense wish for when he dies.
he wants to be cremated & wants to divide his ashes
and give them to 3 close friends. [im one of them]

he wants me to tattoo his ashes on me

& by that he means
mixing the ashes with the tattoo ink & getting some tattoo
to remind me of him.

and i was wondering if a tattoo artist
would be willing to do that?

or if its against the code or something..

I think a better idea would be to get a scarification piece and rub the ashes into it as part of your aftercare.

More info here;

straight, straight for the deep end, doesn't hesitate to dive riiiight in.

I've seen it on some tattooing programme too (not miami ink)... I reckon you'd be able to find an artist if you looked hard enough.
Glimmi says: But yeah theres that old saying you can't judge a book by it's cover, cause it could have like 60 piercings in it's cock......Well that's not how the saying actually goes but you get my point.

Alright, here we go...
The link, as already posted, http://www.bodymod.org/mods/mods.aspx?ID=14353&modtype=Tat&lm=1
The theory here is pretty simple. Mix a small (and I mean small.. TIIIINNNNNYYYYY, otherwise it will be WAAAAYYY too thick. Your friend would have to divide his ashes up between ALL his friends, and then some strangers, to use them all up) (/tangent)
Anyways, mix a TINY amount of VERY FINE ashes, into some BLACK ink. If the ashes have any tiny chunks in them, they will get caught between the needles... this causes a BAD feeling. Don't do it. I'm sure you can get some finely ground ashes, there should be lots to choose from. I personally found it burned a little bit more during the tattoo, not much, and it itched more during the healing, but I could just be crazy.
Aside from all that, it wasn't hard at all to persuade my artist to do it, just ask nicely. In advance.
Just remember those three important points.
TINY bit (or it will be too thick)
FINE ashes (or they'll get stuck in the needles)
BLACK ink (or it might get icky grayish)

If I missed anything, let me know, and I'm sorry if that's repetitive and rambling, it's 6:08 AM... =P  Good luck. =D
