When I had an MRI when I had my concussion the nurses told me I needed to take all mine out, and proceeded to assist me in taking out all thirteen I had at the time. And I actually left my tongue ring in (I only got it pierced two weeks prior to the accident and didn't want it to close) And they didn't say anything, so obviously it didn't effect the MRI at all. So it was pretty pointless taking out the others.
Concidering you have facial piercings and the MRI is to be done on your knee, I dont see why you would need to take them out regardless. |

my mothers friend works at the hospital, and is in the xray department. she had to do some tests for the mri and left all her piercings in and where fine.
but I will double check with her to make sure, and the whole magnetic test thing. the one that they do in the hospital? I'll ask about that as well. and try to do one myself with magnets. but thanks all so much for the feed back. |

The magnetic field is powerful within 20 feet, not just inside the actual machine. I had an MRI once and I took my septum ring out but forgot that my belt had some metal in it....well, as i got close to the machine it riped the belt right through the belt loops and off my pants tearing them. I think it was just a small piece of chrome metal that was only slightly magnetic that did this.
If the metal is not magnetized, then you are probably good, but test it.....people have been killed by bits of metal going into the MRI machine. |

okay well, to be honest I have no idea what my jewlery is made out of.
so if any from the toronto area (ontario, canada), or hell even canada that know about the piercing places adrenaline and new tribe, and know what type of jewlery they use that'd be great. I guess I could always email them. but I got my rook pierced at adrenaline and still have the original jewlery in ( I was told that adrenaline use low quality jewlery, which would explain why I am having trouble, so I should change that before hand?). and I have no idea about newtribe. also back to the magnet test. so to do this I should just try a magnet against my jewlery to see? what kind of magnet to be precise. thank you guys so much for the help. |

Fridge magnets may not actually stick to a small piece of metal, if you have anything bigger that would be better. . .
Kcir, I'll have to tell you the "glass magnet" story sometime. |
