So it's the 6th anniversary of my stepfathers death on staurday, and as such, me and my mum have been talking about funerals alot. I already know what she wants when it's her time, but she didn't know a thing about me; and I mean, I kind of have to face it, the things I do don't exactly border on dangerous, but there have been three occassions in my short life where I have thought I was going to die.

And it really got me thinking - there were only three things that I could particularly impress upon her that I knew for sure:

  • I have to be embalmed. There is no way on this effing earth that I am being buried alive.
  • I want a humanist service given in the same style as my stepfather's.
  • My mum can have first pick of my stuff, but she is not to horde unneccesarily, and the rest goes to my mates and charity.
I do need to plan this further, but I was just wondering if any of you had officially planned what you wanted for your funerals, and what arrangements you'd made if so??

[edit] he also had this at his funeral which was amazing: http://www.motorcyclefunerals.com/

I want this too!!  [/edit]

Glimmi says: But yeah theres that old saying you can't judge a book by it's cover, cause it could have like 60 piercings in it's cock......Well that's not how the saying actually goes but you get my point.

my grandfather died on saturday (whilst i was in london) and i've come back to a family with one less member (there were only 7 in my family to start with).

over the past couple of days we've been talking about his funeral, and they have decided to use a photograph so everyone can remember him. my parents wanted a photo of him a few years ago.. my grandma wants one that was taken 20 years ago. i had to agree with the latter.. i think it's far more important for my grandma to remember him in the middle of their life, rather than when he was older.

i would like a similar thing. if i go when i'm old.. i want people to remember me when i was younger and full of life. if i go relatively soonish, i'd like a picture that isn't necessarily the most flattering, but one that shows me with a lot of energy.

and i would like to donate my organs... but i actually don't know if i can. i remember signing up when i sent off for my drivers license, but i can't give blood due to having an operation and receiving blood when i was younger.. so i wonder if it applies to that, too.

but if i can - i will. i wouldn't pass on the opportunity to save someone elses life once mine is over.

I don't give a shit about what you may do with my body after I'm dead. And actually you need to be bored a lot to spend time thinking about that. Still I believe that as dead people we should all serve first medicine, then science, and finally economy. We shouldn't be give the choice. Give up lung for those who need it, spend a few days in scientific lab, and end up as food for porks. And if you have too many tattoos like me and will be considered as potentially harmfull for porks, then let's transform me in oil and soap.

Who cares? Once you're dead, you're dead.

I have made absolutely no arrangements whatsoever.

I am just presuming when I die, anything I own will go to my Mum, which is what I would want.

And I'll be dead, so why should I care what happens to my body after that?

Although when I was younger I wanted to be either embalmed or frozen.

As it is, I shall not be doing that. One of my mum's friends has recently finished training to be a chiropracter, during which they used corpses for practice. Those bodies are treated appallingly, in both a physically and sexually abusive manner. If it wasn't for that, I would. And I know I know! I'll be dead, so who cares what they do? Well, I would. I would not intentionally put myself forward fro that kind of abuse, alive or dead.

Sorry to hear that Jenni, hope you're bearing up ok.

I have made no plans for my funeral.  My own funeral will (hopefully!) be more important to those I leave behind than it will be to me so I'm happy for them to make the decisions that will comfort them most.  I trust them not to arrange anything that wouldn't be 'me'.

I don't plan to have much of a funeral.. I'd like just a few close friends, and a funeral pyre.  A nice little altar with my body on it, surrounded and covered by something scented and flammable... then they can burn it all. Yay.

Oh, yeah, I've seen a picture of a dead girl with a glue stick stuck in her vagina on encyclopedia dramatica's "offended"(wich i scrolled all without vomiting). I would hate that to happen to me..I dont know. People those days don't have any respect for dead people. I want to be burnt and to have half my ashes transformed into a diamond. The other half, I want them to be mixed to my man's to create a second diamond. Of course, I'll give out my organs: I'm type O- and I can give to just everyone..

i wouldn't wish for an autopsy - they'd screw up my ink damnit.
and i'd wish to be burnt on a funeral pyre.
but those are illegal in Malta. so i'll have to check whereabouts they're allowed.
and my books, they'd have to be given to whoever can appreciate them, not sold.
anything else, i don't care.
