Ok, so I thought I'd post this here incase anyone else has had similar issues. I had stretched both ears to 6ga over about a year's time, and due to an infection in my right ear I had to let the hole close. About a year latter I had it repierced at a 6ga. It's been about two months since I had that done and for some reason my ear has felt stiff in the back, kind of torn, and at some points while doing the salt soaks it bled a lot. After trying several different cleaning techniques, sanitizing tons of things around the house, and not sleeping on that side, nothing has helped.Come to find out I'm allergic to the silicon o-rings!! I have really sensitive skin, and have had allergies to many other materials in my ears, but I never thought about o-rings. So I have titanium hoops in right now and have some very happy ears :) Anyway, I just thought I'd share incase any others have had issues and hadn't thought of o-rings.

Used to get it all the time at the shop. We just made sure we had both black rubber and silicone o-rings on hand.

I'm allergic to metal, but not o-rings. its pretty funny telling people that I'm allergic, and then they see all my piercings. its only to nickel so I can wear most high quality metal. My ears did the same thing yours did when I got them done, except so bad I had to get antibiotics or some other pill. I stuck some titanium CBRs in and they were fine in a few days

I've not tried any stone materials yet, but of all the metals I have tried titanium is all that works & glass is no problem just the o-rings...lameness!

i had a similar reaction, you have to be careful not to put the o rings on too tight, because the skin cannot breath and hair, dust and dirt get stuck and cause a reaction

I wasn't wearing them tight at all (actually so loose they came off a few times!) but my skin is so sensative that it doesn't take much for a recation :( they look and feel even better today...yay!
