Hey

I got a tattoo on my chest a few days ago it was done my a friend who isnt really a proper tattooist but has done quite a few tattoos so stupidly i thought it was a good idea!.... anyway

It was bleeding abit when i got it done and continued to weep a kinda clear fluid for a few hours and it still hasnt properly scabbed or anything and is kind of squishy if that makes sense? I have been putting thin layers of bapanthen on it three times a day as i got told that was good to use but i just  done think it not scabbing is right so any ideas? maybe it was done too deep?

Thanks!

Is the color/ink coming out still?

If it's only a few days old I would wait a little longer before getting too worried. Maybe, go to a shop and have a tattooist look at it and see what he has to say since we don't have a picture.

But, I would keep it moisturized with a non-greasy non-scented lotion. Scabbing really isn't a good thing with tattoos and usually results in some color loss. Peeling of the skin like a sun burn is pretty much guaranteed though.

it wont scab for at least 5 days. even then, not all people scab or peel. dont get worried unless it looks infected. clean and take care of it as usual.

how long ago did you get the tattoo?  you should stop using the ointment and switch to an unscented lotion after a time, as a lot of antibiotic ointments will clog your pores and cause little zit-looking formations around the area it's being applied to.  tattoos done well and taken care of well shouldn't scab.  if they do, there is no set ammount of time for them to form, but usually some time in the first 3-7 days it should be apparent.  does the skin look badly chewed?  is it extremely red and irritated?  is there any discoloration outside the traumatized area?  hopefully one of the tattoo artists will offer you some better advice in a bit, but a picture would help.

have you been washing it if not you should be at lest two or three x aday. it sounds like to me you might of let it get saturated with to much water are let to many layers of bepanthen build up on it and that could of traped bacteria between your tattoo and the bapanthen. try washing it with your fingers with anti bacterial soap then pat dry and let it air dry for a few minutes. then apply a thin coat of unscented lotion like you would on your hands. try this and see if this helps if not go to a real tattoo artist and ask what he/she will tell you about it or go have a doctor look at it.  hope this helps good luck and thing about who you let do any more tattoos for you.

next time dont trust a 'friend' to do it, but go to a tattooist and get them to have a look at it .. it shouldent cost you anything but taking chances with your skin isnt a great idea.
