I like the fact that it makes me feel unique... Because of what i've done to my body, i look and feel diffrent. Once you get one serious mod done... you just cant seem to stop.

hmmmm.....i got my tattoos because i think they are beautiful, and by being on my skin they make me feel beautiful too. the unique thing is also a big part of it, i love knowing that i've got something to make me just that little bit more different to everyone else.

My first tattoo (ankle) was done by myself w/ one needle, ink and thread. I was in a v. dark spot in life..... and was in a place that discouraged beauty. I had wanted one for 10 years and there were several reasons for doing it. It was v. symbolic of a life that was once v. niave but v. fun! It made me feel v. pretty and well it was a big fuck you to the institution. When I was in a position to go to someone that knew what they were doing... and they went over it w/ the gun, I LOVED it! The second was a celebration of self. I find that I have v. little room for insecurities when everyone is asking to see my tattoo! |

very well put bear! speaking of first tats, which i was thinking about starting a topic about it, i got a demon, beginning at the eyes and its mouth gaping open with blood dripping out. my brother looked at it and said why so big, now its probably one of the smallest i have. I havent looked back since that day. i recall occurances, with each tattoo, how it was done, what was going on when it was done, and then i can place my life together according to the tattoo. |

. My piercings were also a celebration of feminism... being girly and nurturing my jewelry fetish. I was raised catholic (no longer hold denomination)... sexuality and sensuality were considered v. bad! I find that ALL of my mods directly contradict all of the sick shit I was taught as a kid. I cannot imagine not having them..... they make me feel v. girly and pretty and I have found that there is no good reason not to feel that way about myself.
