talked to my artist and showed him your pic. he said to go with the tatts in blk and gray or just blk they will turn out just fine. he also said from past experience tattooing dark skin to stay away from the white ink. hope this helps

Black would look great.
I'm not so sure how red ink would look though.

different technique in tattooing darker skin was mentioned. how would it be different? i can't imagine what might be differnet. would it be how deep the needle goes in? the angle the machine is held at? the type of needle? the amount of times the area is gone over?

If you're worried too much. try highlighting/shading with greys . and let your tat artist know your concern!! they might have ideas too

running the machines in different speeds, working the area at a different pace, not overworking the traumatized skin, etc.  i don't tattoo, so i can't give you specifics.

Wow, thanks for all the responses.  You guys went above and beyond.  My next step is to find an artist in NY I trust.  I'm going to go for the tattoo in a month or two and I'll be sure to post how it turned out.  Again, thanks a lot gang.

according to my artist dark skin just will not hold white ink I'm light skinned and some of my white hi lite aren't as bright as win i first had them done. i have seen him tell people with dark skin they are wasting there money using white ink. special people who's skin is very dark from a tan booth.

They should be fine and show up nice. When you are getting a tattoo the final product is covered up with your own skin. The lighter your skin is the clearer color will show up. The darker your skin the harder your skin over the work is to see through. So your idea of black ink is good it will show up great. If you decide to add some red that will show up pretty good as well, exp. if you just do red highlights in the black your skin tone will darken up the red making it blend in well. good luck man I love to see how it comes out.
