so i started to tape my 1 inch plugs, and i noticed the the inside of both of my ears is thin, more so on the left ear. i bought plugs that are 2 sizes bigger than what i have right now. [so 2 sizes bigger than an inch]

-i dont know any of the sizes after an inch, so i dont know what size they are.. anyways, i am using like black pipe tape to gauge [and i have for a long time, and never had any problems with it.

i have been adding a wrap of tape a day after i get out of the shower, and i have been using vaseline. i have been putting the plug in my ear, leaning it onto the thinner area, and then pushing it in at the other end of my lobe, i am assuming that this is pushing even pressure onto my thin-side, and allowing the other side of my ear to stretch [ i could be very wrong, which is why i am here ] i have been only adding enough to make the ear a bit tight, not too much.. because i dont dare rip my ear. i paid like 60 bucks for my plugs and i dont want to waste them, and i have been wanting to go to 2 inches.. but i have a feeling my ears will be preventing me.

i have serious blowouts also, as you can see in the images.

i really need to know what my chases are of ripping my lobes, taking into consideration how thin they are, and the pace i am going, and the size jump etc. i also would like to know if someone could give me an estimation on the size of the new plug is, since i have no idea.

if my ear is too thin to continue to stretch, i think i will sand some of the flare off of the new plugs, so i am not entirely wasting them

You can also down size to thicken your lobes up and is really suggested in doing so when you get to 1" and above. I know that it could be frustrating doing so but in the long run you could end up with lobes that look pretty instead of thin like they have been pounded by a meat cleaver way to long. Also the tape and Vaseline are not that great. Using natural weight can also decrease the chances in ripping your lobes. Plus Vaseline can harbor bacteria and trap air borne pathogens in the pollutants from the air.

You should definitely downsize and restretch.  If you keep going, you will never be able to reach 2" without a huge risk of tearing.  Repeatedly downsizing and restretching will help build up thickness, and will allow you to safely continue stretching.  Your tape, is it PTFE?  If not, I would switch to either PTFE tape or bondage tape for futher stretching.  Just because you have not had a problem yet does not mean you won't have a problem later.  And I agree with not using vaseline.  If you need some lube, try something water based.  Plain KY works really well, and will not harbor bacteria.  I'm not sure what exactly vampire311 is saying about weights, but I wouldn't recommend wearing anything heavy.  This can cause uneven stretching, and actually increase your change of ripping IMO.

When it came to weight I meant the natural weight of the Jewelry over time that will help in the stretching process I did not mean artificial weight. I agree with KY as well. I also use Ju Jaba  oil it is a natural extract it also makes the skin softer as well. bodyartforms.com sells it.
