ha ha I've seen them before. fecking crazy. they end up on a lot of mainstream media shows, and always end up getting in screaming matches with the host ha ha ha.
and as far as covering up your tattoos, I wouldn't do that... if you're going to go, go and be comfortable in who you are. what are they going to do, kick you out? martyrs are beautiful, as long as you don't intentionally incite it =]
this is my name- what couldn't you comprehend in church? it's usually insanely simple.

I'm not heavily modified, but am Greek Orthodox, and have three piercings - all of which are stretched. Noticed recently that Greek people aren't very accepting of mods - and also confused about them. But yeah good luck finding that person. I know Bear from Texas is a Christian.

why would they invite you if they weren't comfortable with you? if they respected you, then they would also respect your decision to have permanent, visible body modification. especially if they, knowing who you were, and that you had tattoos, invited you to a church, then it is assumed that being who you are you will have your tattoos. so it is inescapable, that if you were invited then why wouldn't it be ok to show up?

it isn't anything that interests her, so i don't talk to her about it. she doesn't know the full extent of what i have, and whether or not it's important for me to show them.
all i knew was that i would be surrounded by her family and friends (only one of which was a mutual friend of ours) and i didn't want them to know about it. just because i choose to tattoo myself, doesn't mean i should flaunt them at any given moment. i would rather look more conservative around other conservative people. just as i would expect her not to preach about god to me, when she knows i am not religious. but it was her wedding day - so the person to be respected was her. |

well, I didn't say flaunt. not at all. but if I can't go somewhere looking like I always do, or near to what I always do, then there is no reason that I should be there. I know that's rather hedonistic, but isn't that part of all of this?
I don't see how being invited doesn't constitute being alright with who you are. If I had a friend that every time he got drunk he shit himself, and I invited him to a party, I wouldn't expect him to not shit himself. I would either not invite him or just persuade him not to imbibe. (I would also factor in that not everyone knew my shitty friend, so they would be surprised when he pinched a loaf in his pants.) and if I invited him, and didn't speak to him about his actions, then I would expect the afformentioned end result.

I can see Jeeennnnniiiii's point and think it was considerate. It is the bride and grooms day so all the attention should be on them. If I was unsure of how my friend's family would react to tattoos at her wedding then I'd make sure I covered them up, at least for the ceremony.
As for religion, I was brought up Catholic and still go to mass now and again off my own back because I like it, although I wouldn't describe myself as being particularly religious. I've never had any problems or funny looks. Not that I've noticed anyway. I never considered mods and religion to even be an issue.

Definitely in Greece, pique. You'd be surprised to see a male with a single lobe piercing. Australian Greeks are more accepting of mods, but very few have them too. |

i'm a christian... a true honest christian.
and it's hard saying that because i know all the shit that is piled on top of that word. i don't look like Rouslan by any means nor will i tattoo my entire body. but i'm looking at two half sleeves at least, my back piece, chest piece, side, my ears are at a little over an inch, dreadlocks, looking at snakebites, more ear piercings, and maybe venoms (i don't have a lot of these because of parents at the moment that are paying for school). my church home is called eXpediton: in winston-salem north carolina... my pastors have piercings and tattoos. we use to meet in a little room, then we met at a skate park (we had a lot of fire hazards when we built some of the stuff so we had to leave)... now we meet at a house sit around drinking a few beers and talking about life, Love, and God. |

...a final opinion is of less value than an appreciation of, and tolerance for obscurity...
