I want to talk about tattoo's and religion. First off there's really nothing in the bible that says you can't get a tattoo period. Many people will say well what about Leviticus 19:28 it says "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord." Now what that is referring to specifically is a pagan ritual of cutting and marking themselves with tattoos in order to send their dead to their pagan gods. Kinda the same way some people believe that you have to put coins on the deads eyes to pay the ferryman to send them to the other side. It's not actually condemning the art of tattoing itself. It's saying don't practice the "ritual" used to honor someone elses gods. Now if that was the case then look at the verse before it Leviticus 19:27 it says "Ye shall not round the corners of your heads neither shall thall mar the corners of thy beard." That verse doesn't mean you can't cut your hair or your beard. It simply means don't practice another pagan ritual of honoring the pagan gods by cutting your hair for ritual purposes. It also says in the Bible that your body is a temple and you shouldn't desecrate it and I totally agree. Now let's look at what desecrating the temple means. It means don't abuse your body in a self destructive manner. As in harming with drugs, alchohol, cigarettes, and even things like caffeine, and many other self destructive toxins. Now i don't do any of those things listed above and as far as tattoo's being desecrating. I believe they are decorating rather than desecrating. I see pictures, colored windows, and murals on the walls of churches all the time. Now are they desecrating or decorating? The only way my tattoo's would be desecrating is if i got something dishonoring to God or if i did them for a self destructive reason. I don't get tattoo's to be self destructive or to dishonor God. I get them because i like the art of it. Some of the most beautiful artwork I've seen has been on someones skin. Besides I know that God doesn't look at my outward appearance he see's what's in my heart. I'm not saying I'm the best person in the world but i truely do try to be a good person and I love God and Jesus. Now I admit I am a sinner I just don't believe tattoo's are one of my sins but everyone falls short of the grace of God. Luckily for me and other Christians he forgives those who ask.

and for the guy above I like to say.. no not all religion is to control or put fear in ppl.. thats, in my opinion, is only the religion that that gose by many names. christian, islam and jewish.. in fact we know that the first christian church was made by the Romans to control ppl. there are a tons of all kind a spiritism that has no "rules" or "sins"

Churches are houses of God (why would God need Houses anyway if he's supposed to be everywhere at once?), so it would seem that it is up to God to grant or deny access to his houses. Due to a lack of direct communication and according to the catholic church St. Peter and in extention the Pope is the earthly proxy of God and the decision above is up to him (I think it is written somewhere that no one else is allowed to speak in God's name, could be wrong, though). So as long as the pope doesn't show up to deny you access at least the catholic church would be obligated to grant it.
There are, of course, some more secular laws which interfere there - but a convinced priest would put God's law above secular law.

Anyway, the more I write the more I sense a tight-knit web of contradictions. I also hope my reasoning is somewhat accurate, I did not research it, though.

I'll talk for myself as an italian and because the christian church is here and, unfortunately (in my opinion), has many power also on the italian state.
 
I remember reading an article on a christian journal at my grandmother house. It was about piercing and tattoos, saying that they're just evil. Not only because they can be done in a wrong way (wich wasn't their main concern haha) but because they're not natural and against human nature.
Basically the article didn't have another point of view except from their one, wich is a thing i don't like particulary.

Anyway, here in italy religion has a great importance- not because many people truly believe in it- but because the christian church has always been a part of the italian state and still is. I don't want to say all the things i don't agree with the italian state( such as the fact that with the 8x1000 (a thing for workers) you're asked to donate the money to the state or to 6 church. Obviously only the 38% of people choose their preference but the rest of the non expressed votes are given to the christian church that has almost 600.000.000 of euros only for that.) but i  find that religions are not a thing for me as they don't allow you to make what you prefer in mods and also in other things of the everyday life. For the christian church it is an important thing to 'look good' like, when you go into a church here you can't have short pants for men and no tops for women, you can't go how you do want to the church and that's a thing i don't agree with. I used to go to the church when i was younger (till 11 years old) and i didn't liked the sensation i felt judging all the people and such. They don't allow diversity because different is seen as wrong, be it how you dress or how you look.

To each their own, i must say. But here we can't do many things because of the christian church and the vatican, heh.
