I started easy with my earlobe.
Just a plain ole 12g cbr. That was 4 years ago.
I have done my own nipples and have a nice scrotal ladder of 6 CBRs all 6g.
I probably will not let any pierce me again if I can do it myself.

Why on earth would you do this to yourself, being a piercer? Is this some kind of temporary piercing, or are you expecting this to last?

Cale, great question!

I do not expect this to last at all. As a matter of fact, I expect the opposite. I have never had a surface piercing myself so I thought I would do one in a, naturally, very bad area to have a piercing like this. It's sort of an experiment. I am and will continue to log the progress/regress of the hand piercing on a daily basis. This was done for "educational purposes" only.

21Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?

22Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

i started self piercing at 13 and still self pierce at 25, of all of my piercings only one was professional (center lebret). I love doing them myself and feel more satisfaction from them when i do them on my own. I use standard needles and but my septum were freehand. my list:
 left eyebrow X 2 (retired), right nostril X 3 (2 retired, 1 currant), left nostril x 1 (currant), septum x 1 (currant), right monroe x 1 (retired), right lebret x 6 (1 currant), center lebret x 4 (all retired), left lebret x 6 (1 currant), right nipple x 2 (1 currant), left nipple x 1 (currant), right lobe x 1 (currant and stretched), left lobe x 4 ( all currant, 3 stretched), helix x 1 (retired)

i'm so glad i found this thread. i was starting to think that it was just for pros who frowned upon amateurs taking things into their own hands.

through torrentz have downloaded plenty of apprenticeship type dvd's, which you can rewind and watch again in slow motion, you couldn't do that watching in a shop being a dogsbody.

except for two ear-lobes that i had as a child, tongue and one labret, i've done all my other piercings myself. three last night, and one of them was an orbital.

with friends it's so much easier though, you pierce really quick, on yourself, there's some reticence which makes it so much more painful which is kinda nice but NOT WHEN IT COMES TO NIPPLES.   OUCH!   lol
i'll keep learning from my own mistakes.

people here are not advocating it.....theyre just giving their opinions on doing it.

lots of people self-pierce, and us professionals would obviously frown upon it, in a sense that it 'could' go wrong.

lots of people do it and do it well....

But NOBODY here would agree that you can learn more from a video that you can with an apprenticeship, or 'dogsbody' as you call it.

That statement wont make you any friends here.

And to add...if you're piercing your friends: you are not self piercing, you're a Hack Piercer.
