lip piercings are easy to do, heal pretty quickly and can have many combinations. mouth piercings are one of my more favourite areas for piercings, obviously.
i think i figured out the ultimate reason why i modify: i just like touching myself.

How do you suggest getting into self-piercing? Is there an easy piercing to ease yourself into it?

I'd love to do it but i don't see how i'd be able to see where i was going to pierce so it would be crap; i don't know about placing and how to change the needle to jewellery without loosing the whole; and wouldn't really have the guts to do it.

Basically, do you need specialist equipment, skill and balls to self pierce? if so, where do i get them all from?! (bearing in mind i live in hertfordshire in england)

www.painfulpleasures.com sells wonderful needles at cheap prices in bulk. i purchase 15g and 13g so they are slightly larger than the jewellery i wear, so i can fit the end of the jewellery into the end of the needle, which makes for easy insertion.

easy piercing to ease into would be lobe piercings. you could also purchase a pair of forceps if you don't trust yourself free hand (i'm better free hand). you don't need special equipment at all, even household objects can be used for an autoclave. skills are self taught or taught watching a professional. balls comes from yourself. i have a high pain tolerance and love for the experience.

i use 13g for 14g piercings and 15g for 16g piercings. i've never tried cannula needles but i think i would prefer what i'm using right now anyways. i have no need for a cannula needle at this time anyways. maybe if i try more intricate ear work on my own i'll give it a shot. it seems useful for self piercing a rook, possibly.

im thinking about researching piercings because my wife is afraid to go some ware to get pierced. but she has also considered getting her hood done and i told her i wouldn't do that so i will look for a woman piercer in my area.
The difference between being eccentric and insane is money. So i guess im insane.

I've just gotten into these recently.. I did my two dermals, on my hips, and my right nostril. Next up I'm doing a medusa, and a bridge (and dermals will be evenly'ish spaced every few weeks, I've got a lot to go).
I don't mind the pain, but I find the survival instinct is akward. It slows me down a lot.
So does anyone have any advice for a medusa or bridge?
(right now I'm waiting for my digital calipers to show up... I'll do everything I can to get a straight bridge, even if it means spending a few hours marking)
