I hate Jade Dragon.  I pretty much live downtown, and I've had a few friends get tattooed there. For one, their prices are OUTRAGEOUS. They wanted $120 for a navel piercing (2yrs ago?). As piercing artists, we all know supplies don't run us more than $5. Puh-lease. Also, the "artists" at Jade Dragon claim to be MASTERS. Check out their portfolios, and tell me if they look like masters to you. Every tattoo I've ever seen people get from there has been CRAP. Most wound up getting it fixed/covered up. They also have the god complex to the EXTREME. If you're a tattoo artist/body piercer and decide to go in there, DO NOT mention that you're one. You'll get the 3rd degree. They do nothing but question your practices, trying to show off and imply that they are much more skilled, highly trained, and better than you. In reality folks, we all know they're not. If you're ever in Chicago though, just check out the shop for shits and giggles. You'll see how totally right I am. :)

ohhh and I think it's a good thing the guy made a big deal out of it instead of letting them fix it. People think that Jade Dragon is a good tattoo shop, just from word of mouth. I heard Jade Dragon was good from some people, so I decided to check it out myself. Yeah... not good at all. If this gets put on the news (you know chicago news-- they cover everything from bad traffic to babies being left in dumpsters, so it probably will be on there if it turns into a huge issue), it will ruin Jade Dragon's "rep." They need a good bashing. People really need to see that it's just one of those shops that gives tattooing and body piercing a bad name.

For a reputable artist, I'd be tempted to do something similar, but considering how many people on here are saying he's not.... How much do you think the business is worth? Multiply by three, and there you have your number.

Maybe. SOMEHOW Jade Dragon has a good reputation. Maybe people who get their first tattoos there think it's an amazing shop, so they tell people it is. I on the other hand have actually been to more than one tattoo shop, so I know good from bad. They are deeefinitely way down there on the list.

obviously I've never been there and probably never will so I can't really pass an opinion. but I just thought to sue after they've offered to cover it up is a little mean, I'm sure the situation could have been resolved without going to such extremes. But then maybe it is a good thing if it makes them wise the fook up.

YES!! It's good to see that there are more people on here that hate Jade Dragon as much as I do. That overprices overrated piece of shit shop...they really need to be shut down. The artist aren't worth what they charge at all and their pricing for piercings are absolutely ridiculous!

As I said in the other post about this, I hope the guy sueing wins and I always talk anyone thinking about going there out of going. Complete waste of money just for shitty as artists who do shitty ass work.

Though I've never been to nor even heard of the place till now, from what I've heard this Jade Dragon place isn't that great. I know a lot of people who go to places thinking they're good at what they do just because the prices are high. RAISED PRICES DOESN'T MEAN GOOD ART. I mean, seriously. You don't -always- get what you pay for.
The guy who went there should have researched his information a little better than what he did.
If he had, this would never have been an issue to begin with.
And I also agree with whomever said that it's rediculous for this guy to have waited two years to sue.
I mean, c'mon!
If you're upset enough about what happened you should sue BEFORE you even find out there's money in it for you.
I mean, shit, they screwed your tattoo!
The art should matter more than money.
Makes me wonder what kind of stingy money-grubbing people are being let into this world.

on waiting two years to sue......it happens....I fully plan on suing my ex landlord, but it's been six months, and may be another six before I can afford to sue her, I have a two year window to file.   Who knows, maybe he'd been trying to make an appointment to get a touch up and they kept backing out, we won't know the whys and hows until it hits court.   Also, sometimes it's hard to get together all your evidence, and very costly to file in some states, there are a ton of things that could be factors in the time he's taken to sue.
