are you asking what to use to stretch your ears?  because the answer to that is 'a taper'... the second answer to that is 'a piercer'!!  if you try to stretch them yourself there can be issues with tearing and scar tissue!  what are you planning on wearing in it?  an earring, a plug, etc?  that can help determine how big you will want to stretch the hole.  my advice is to start small... stretch up to a 10g, wear that for a while, and if you want to go bigger increase in small increments until you reach your ideal size.  looking at body jewelry and comparing different sizes may help you decide, too.  in any case, good luck, and have a professional stretch your ears!

Just go slow....if your at a 14 or 16 you can go to 12 w/o any pain you can go a little bigger, to a 10 and shouldn't be bad. I did...I use acrylic captive rings

Slow is good, I tried to go to fast And I can say it was a big bloody mess and the one i got impatient with  has a tear shooting up a quarter inch, now it looks kinda dumb, You can see a gap on top of my Asian twist where the other is fit tight around, With that if any one has any ideas on how to fix that, Feed back would be appreciated.

Yeah when you are gauging you cannot go fast in the risk of messing up your ear lobes.  I have been gauging down to a 4 for the past year, and I even think I went to fast at times.  Since you are at a 14 now, what you can do is buy a few more barbells down to a 10.  Once you are there, the best and quickest way to go even bigger is to purchase a taper.  They are only like $8.00 at hot topic (www.hottopic.com) and you push that threw and leave it in for a few weeks.  You can then change over into plugs, horse shoe, captive beads, or barbells.

Good luck!

why not just go to bme's shop and get a good quality taper and jewelry and get it done in a few minutes, as long as it's not to much of a jump. slide taper through, follow w/ ring (etc) and all done.....or get ghetto and wrap some take around your jewelry (preferably plugs) until your up to the size you want or you get a bigger plug.

the slowest method is the best....that is the teflon tape method. Once a week, add another layer of teflon tape until the ultimate size is achieved. Next best is tapered jewelry such as talons, as long as the gauge jump isnt so big as to make the taper angle too aggresive. O rings are used to hold tapered jewelry in place until  you are ready to set it deeper. Next best method is insertion taper method. It is an immediate stretch, but it is limited as to the size jumps without tissue damage...basically at decent size, you have to buy new jewelry at pretty much each gauge.. but it is very much better than attempting to force new jewelry in, with no tapering.....owwwww

I agree with Labyrinth144. When you're stretching ( it's not called "gauging" ) go slow. If you stretch too much too soon you can get what's affectionately called "Cat's Ass". It's called that because it kinda looks like a sphincter when you take your jewelry out. It hurts like hell and bleeds like a mofo if you don't take your time.

P.S. - a piercer will know best.
