![]() I'm exhausted from these past couple weeks. And I know these next few days are going to be interesting, but I'm done. The new BodyMod.org is done and live. It really feels like a weight off my chest finally finishing this thing. It's been about a year and a half in the making, but in the end, I'm truly happy with the result and am confident that it's the right direction for the community. With Facebook and such basically destroying sites like mine and bme, it was imperative to do drastic changes to try in breath some life back into the community. When I started the redesign, I asked myself, why. Why do we need to regrow the community? To me, it's because even though sites like Facebook have brought lots of people together, it's actually created a larger gap between all of us. It made everyone more photo-scrolly and like button addicts. The interaction and getting personal with people is nonexistent there. Facebook and other mega-social sites are massive corporate conglomerates that are straight-up using you to funnel money into their pockets for selling your personal lives to advertisers and pretty much anyone else that's the highest bidder. They could care less about the body modification community. Maybe I'm officially old, but I miss the days of meeting someone new online, building up an online report with them, and then eventually even meeting them in person and sometimes becoming life-long friends! Many of you out there did the same, and some even created families from meeting through this site. How awesome is that! When's the last time you met someone new on Facebook, developed a deep connection with them, and traveled a thousand miles to hang out with them? I'm guessing never. BodyMod.org was redesigned to plant a flag firmly in the bedrock of the internet to signal to everyone that the online community is not a thing of the past, and to hopefully shine like a beacon to others to attract them back to build new relationships, strengthen the community as a whole amongst all of us, and grow the body mod community to even greater heights! Remember, BodyMod.org is developed by one dude. A guy that has dedicated the past decade of his life in more ways than just this site into helping the growth of the community and bring people together. That means, if you want to see something change for the better on this site, let me know and I can make it happen. The initial slogan of BodyMod.org was "By Us, For Us", and it still rings true today. If there is something that I can do to make a better community for you, tell me! That's how this site grew. From suggestions from the community. And with that, because this is the "Go-Live", there's bound to be a dozen bugs and issues with different types of browsers / user accounts / etc. Please post them in the forum (I'm making a new topic just for it), so that I can address them and fix them as they come up. Please be patient with me as there's a lot of work behind it, and I'm just one guy =) So, I hope you like the new design and functionality. Please take some time to play around the site with all the new features and little areas hidden away in the corners. Share your thoughts, findings, and I always welcome to share a shot of Jager if you see me =) Cheers! .: Adam PS. If you're in Puerto Rico (or want to come down!) I will be at the Puerto Rico Tattoo Convention next weekend (May 3-5) and would love to hang out! You know… old school, offline style |
