this has no doubt come up time after time but i'd appreciate your input

i am a recent graduate looking for a job (who isn't?). i also really fancy getting lip piercings (verticle angel-bites). bearing in mind i don't want a heavily people-based job i'm wondering if now is the best time to get them done? on the one hand i resent that i shouldn't do it because of society, on the other, if i don't get them done now i don't think i ever will (there's never a good time) plus i need cheering up. chances are when/IF i get any interviews they would be healed enough for me to get retainers in...basically, i don't know what to do.

what jobs do people have and (i think i can guess the answer but) have you ever been turned down from a job purely because of your mods when the mods in question are irrelevant.

thanks

I work at Kohls and Value Village. In my experience most retail stores (especially clothing, jewelry, etc type places) don't mind it too much. They seem to think it will attract more youngsters or something.

I've never worked in an environment as far as regular retail or anything where they've been cooperative or supportive of new piercings or having to see anything to do with them that may potentially upset customers.

Good luck.

Pretty much every employer is gonna think fuck off if u go to interview with facial piercings. That said if u heal them and remove them fir interview u shud tell them u have them coz its better to b honest than to get fired on UR 1st day

I work in a Vet and I had my lip piercings in for my interview. The boss mentioned and I said I would wear retainers, I didn't want him to feel like he was telling me to do it before I'd even gotten the job and I think it may have across better that I offered first.
Shortly after my interview, I actually retired my labret but I still have my snakebites in. I just remove them for work. They don't seem to mind my tragus or stretched lobes, at least nothing has ever been said about them. There's also a few other people in at my work with their tragus pierced so if they said anything to me, I'd be quick enough to point that out.

I have gone for interviews where they have asked me to take my piercings out and I refused to work for them because of that. Other jobs have asked me to wear retainers which I didn't really mind. I had a recent job where I had to wear a turtle neck sweater to cover up my tattoo on my throat. I work as a delivery person for an auto parts company and they don't care about my piercings or tattoos, they just want someone who is a hard worker and gets the job done.

i've always taken jewelry (my eyebrow) out for interviews for non-personal (1:1 assistance) jobs and covered others (dermal anchors on my neck and chest). after i get a job, i ask if it's okay to wear jewelry in my eyebrow piercing. that was fine at the school i last worked at, but i'm pretty sure i will have to leave jewelry out when i start my internship at a local middle school and high school in the fall. most of my other piercings and my scar pieces are pretty easy to hide/cover.

my suggestion would be to either get the piercings well before you interview (months, so they heal enough that they can be taken out) or to get them after you have the job.
