So about 3 days ago I got 6 dermal anchors in a corset pattern on my back.
My piercer asked me to leave the band aids on pretty much all day for about 2 weeks but the band aids are giving me this scary rash ( I have sensitive skin apparently). I tried latex free band aids and the same thing is happening. Is it okay to leave the band aids off unless I am sleeping? Another question I have is all of them sit right on my skin except for one, the one on the bottom right sticks up a tiny bit more than the rest, is that okay? These are my first dermal anchors so I guess its sink or swim right? Edited by mskirby420 - April/02/2012 at 7:31am |

I figured a picture wouldnt go amiss here, sorry its so crappy but where the red is there are little white heads all around. Its kind of gross so Im a little worried. The anchors themselves are healing really well though.

Try Micropore tapes instead of regular band-aid. It is used for people will real sensitive skin and burn victims.

Thank you! I went and got some tape and a bit of gauze, the rash has gone down quite a bit! Still a little aggravated around the edges but other than that they look much better. I appreciate it!!!

This is something I worry about as well since I had to wear a bandaid for a few weeks from a surgery. Same looking rash happened to me as well, tho I had no bandaid alternatives at the time so I ended up with some scarring from the adhesive. I would be THRILLED if this tape stuff works as I plan to have some microdermals on my face. I would hate for them to scar. I hope yours heal tho! I wonder if Palmers cocoa-butter would have helped mine as they were healing, if you can do that around cleaning time it might help a bit. They look great other wise!! :)
