    Posted: March/27/2012 at 4:48pm
Hey, I am going to pierce my friends's helix soon and I'm have some questions about the procedure:

-What size is usually used? 1.2 (16 g) or 1.6 (14 g) ?

-Do I use a needle one size bigger than the piercing and then put the jewelery inside the needle or do I use the same size for the jewelery and needle?

-Is it best done with clamps or freehand?

-What diameter should the initial BCR be?

Thanks for any help :)

Ps. Don't worry, I will use sterile clamps, needles and jewelery, wear gloves and clean my hands and his ear before the piercing :)

I am sorry hon, but it's best to leave piercings for professional piercers, who actually do piercings for a living and know what to do if things go wrong.

I know it's the best thing to do but my friend is cheap and if I don't do it I'll never become better and he will probably go to a hairdresser or something :)

You say you'll "never become better". Are you hoping to one day become a professional piercer? Because I doubt any piercer would take you on as an apprentice if you have pierced others without proper knowledge. If your mate is cheap and would go to a hairdresser to save money, that is their problem. Without proper training, you piercing them is just as bad as them going to a hairdresser.

Sorry to tell you this, but most people on this site aren't going to tell you how to pierce your friends. It's seriously, seriously frowned upon.

I have no problem with knowledgeable self-piercers. If a person wants to take risks with their own bodies, that is their choice.

But when you start taking other people's bodies into your hands, you're not just making bad decisions for yourself. You might think you are being safe and maintaining a sterile environment, but you probably aren't. And if your friend ends up with a horribly infected piercing because you didn't know what you were doing, you're going to feel like a real dick.

A helix piercing costs about the same as a family size pizza with side orders and coke. Just pay for your friend to get pierced professionally. That way you will have done something kind, ethical and safe rather than just maiming a friend.

Well I'm happy to tell you how to perform a successful helix piercing on your friend.

1: Get yourself a nice latex glove (one will do) and put it on your dominant hand.
2: Get a nice big swing and give your friend a nice slap for being an idiot.
3: This is the harder bit, give yourself a nice slap too for agreeing to go along with it.
4: Go to a reputable piercer and get your helix pierced.

TA DA - one successful helix piercing.

haha mike that sounds like the three stoooges slap fights to me

but yea dont pierce your friend, if you have to ask people what size needle and all that stuff to use you should just get a reputable piercer to do it instead of you possibly giving your friend a nasty infection (like mrsa)
