Over the past year I have been tossing up with removing a few of my tattoos, most are on the smaller side, however, one piece is larger... I also need to get a tiny section of a previous tattoo removed, so that the in progress cover-up for it can continue without a chunk of the old tattoo showing through.

I am curious to hear from people who may have had a tattoo removed in the past.
And are there other avenues that I can take, or is it strictly just 'lazer that bitch off'??

it is not strict but laser is the best option.

You can have some ink destroying chemical tattooed into the skin. It works (I have seen someone with it done) but it seems to be a much more painful and less effective than laser.
There are creams available - they seem just to cause chemical burns.
Laser is, at the moment, the best way and even then it needs to be done by a trained operative.

I have found two reputable and professionals in tattoo removal in my city. My only issue is (after watching videos of it) is that the sound of the lazer working scares the bejesus out of me - I sat there in my room getting anxious over the videos.

I heard shouting chemical stuff, but I would have to speak to my doctor/trained professional about that avenue before using it willynilly.
One of the areas I want to re-tattoo with something nicer, but as for be smaller ones, I just want them gone.

Though there are many many ways to get your tattoo removed but the best and easiest treatment is Laser tattoo removal. They work by targeting the ink with pulses of highly concentrated light that break the ink into tiny fragments, which are then cleared away the your own immune system. It works on every color of ink.
