Hello
I live in toronto (Canada)

I contacted my local shoppers drug mart and asked if they had Blairex: Wound Wash Saline.  They transferred me to about 5 different customer service representatives and none of them had even heard about saline solutions (which I find extremely odd since there's a built in pharmacy in shoppers drug mart).

They do have packets of sea salt.  This would be fine if I weren't so extremely lazy.
The reason I ask is because recently my apadravya piercing has made sex pretty painful.  It's 1/2 completely healed and 1/2 healing.  saline usually makes the pain go away x_x.

I tried looking online at amazon.com and ebay.com.. both of these sites have them for about $5- 10 for 7.1oz HOWEVER every one i clicked charges $25+ for shipping.  I don't want to pay 4x the product for shipping o__o

know any good websites? send them my way!

also

can I have some opinions on iodine solutions?
my piercer once told me that a couple of drops of iodine in water can help healing process.  But I have no idea what % of iodine to buy and how much water to dilute it into..

lastly

my piercing is 1/2 healed and 1/2 healing.  I want to stretch it from 10g to 8g.  the 8g barbell goes through the healed portion with no prob.  But it hurts when it gets to the healing portion.  should I just push it through like a new piercing or should I wait?

You can make your own saline mix. 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon of non-iodized sea salt in 8oz (1 cup) of warm water. Soak for 3 to 5 minutes at a time, 2 times a day, then rinse with water afterward. It's very easy to make your own mix and a great alternative if you don't want to spend the money on Wound Wash.

I do not suggest iodine at all, especially on a piercing that is healing. The only thing you need is the saline rinses. You have to keep in mind that an apadravya piercing can take a long time to heal, sometimes up to a year. The piercing should be completely healed before stretching. Stretching while your piercing is still healing can cause many problems, and could even go as far as losing your piercing. It should NEVER hurt when you stretch your piercing. If you feel pain, that means your body wants you to stop, and is telling you that the piercing is not healed and is not ready for a stretch. Being sexually active while this piercing is healing could potentially prolong your healing. It's important to have jewelry that fits properly and to use condoms as a barrier to help promote your healing. If you feel pain from the piercing during sex, then you should stop having sex. By constantly causing pain to your piercing, you will always be in the state of "half way healed" because bumping it around, removing the jewelry, trying to stretch it, things like that, will keep irritating/damaging the fistula (the tube of tissue the jewelry sits in) which re-opens it for re-healing. Fistulas are sensitive during healing and you have to be kind to it. I recommend leaving the jewelry in until the piercing has healed, and do your sea salt soaks. It will heal if you let it. I hope all of this helps. :)

Attempting to change and stretch a still healing piercing is really going to add time to your healing process... You should not be taking out the jewelry at all until the piercing has healed.

I don't understand.. You can buy a large container of sea salt for a couple of dollars.. Add that to some distilled water that you've heated up.. And you're good. Going way out of your way to get a spray bottle of salt water seems like more work then just buying salt.

I know nothing of iodine.. But wouldn't your piercer be able to answer that question for you, if he/she suggested it in the first place?

Oops. Sorry, Cale. I should have figured you'd be around to give a better answer.

I'd say skip the websites and just buy some gentle antibacterial soap and a spray bottle with some salt and bottled water to put in it... don't get the iodized kind unless you reeeally like pain btw. It doesn't do much else. And please stop trying to stretch the hole while it's still healing - it thins out what you have to work with later and make it so you might not be able to stretch to as big as you planned.

As I live in a different continent I can't really help with buying products in Canada - the shiping costs from Europe would be incredible. You could try a medical wholesaler or a hospital pharmacy - they probably would sell saline solution.

As for iodine. I am not a medical doctor so I do not use it unless instructed to do so by a medical doctor. I would advise not to use iodine without medically trained supervision unless professionally advised to do so.

As for stretching a partly healed piercing - that is as wise as running a marathon on a broken knee.

thank you for all of the responses =) I appreciate it
-I will not stretch it until it is healed
-I will not use iodine

The reason I wanted the saline spray is because the spray is pressurized and I can apply it easily in a few seconds.  If I make a sea salt soak I have to make it every day.  I usually get too lazy to boil water.. wait for it to cool a bit.. then use it.

but if I can't find it.. then I'll probably stick to litha method or a soak before sex,

I'd stay away from the soaps as it can dry out your piercing.

Also, you should do a sea salt soak AFTER sex so the piercing gets cleaned. Before sex is pointless. :)

Shoppers Drugmart does sell Blairex Wound Wash Saline, you just really have to search for it because it's usually either on the bottom or top shelf, and fairly hidden... I've also found it at various Wal-Marts, if you have one near you, and it's cheaper there than Shoppers :)
