Don't rely on websites, and hearsay information, if you expect to become a reputable artist. The best place to start a modification career is to start in the medical field. Take a uni course in sterilization services would be a good way to start, then ease yourself into a partnership with a skilled artist. Remember, there are people who know what they are doing, an there are people who only pretend. The industry suffers, every time some one plays mod artist. You can never know enough, and you have to be willing to devote you being to it, as the industry is forever changing.

My advice is to wait and learn from whoever it is you get an apprenticeship with. There are different ways to do things in different situations and some things you learn may apply to your new position and some may actually set you back. Just make sure during your interview that you mention that you know cross contamination and sterilization proedures are a MAJOR part of learning to become a piercer and that should impress them enough that you've done some research. If anything knowing the difference between an ultrasonic unit and an autoclave and there different uses. Knowing the difference between sterilization and disinfected as well as the difference between sterile and clean. These small things will help and then let your mentor teach you their way.

Now this all means nothing if you dont find a reputable piercer to mentor you. THAT is where you should focus your research. Then you will learn all these things that you want to learn the right way

Cale- I rarely find myself with an opinion thats very different from yours but I am not a fan of the red cross for training purposes. We sent our counter help to a red cross BBP class and the instructor told them he had better things to do that day walked them through the test answer by answer gave them cards and sent them packing all in a 20 min time frame. I have also been on the receiving end of a bad Red cross class and was basically public enemy number one when I demanded that they taught the class correctly and said that I would report the teacher to his superiors. Even when they do teach the entire class they leave a lot out. But thats a whole other discussion

Enough with the rant. My point being that there are better places to take BBP certifications. And Im sorry I did not mention this in my post above. Always a good idea to receive BBP training.

Online courses do not meet OSHA standards for training, Nor does the red cross give out copies of the OSHA standard precautions which is also required. Basically if OSHA wanted to fuck with you (for whatever reason) they could hold that against you
