I actually don't think all men are bastards at all. A lot of women are equally as bad. I've certainly been no angel throughout my love life, even if I've painted myself as a victim. That was really the result of rejection and self pity.

Ah, it's imperative you see yourself as the victim in these cases. If you don't and you start blaming yourself, then the self-loathing sets in. I would be much happier if I had bullet proof faith in myself; regardless of what others think of me.

Recently I've had a good look at myself and gotten in the habit of practicing self-reassurance and self-confidence. I don't want to sound like a hippie, but it helps. I'm willing to tolerate less bull shit in my current relationship, and I refuse to be put down, controlled, or manipulated because I think I'm a bad girlfriend when I know I'm not. I'm not perfect either - I apologize when I'm wrong. I just feel I deserve to be treated with utmost respect by the person who loves me.

I'd fallen into believing that I was a bad girlfriend if I didn't do things exactly a certain way (his way), and I'd let myself be manipulated to the point where I was always afraid he'd get pissed and leave if I said "no" or didn't do something he wanted.

I've found guys can be quite intimidated by women who are confident and self assured, which is most unfortunate. Not to come off as a feminist.

I feel like a bad person if I do something that my partner doesn't like regardless of how much I want to do it.
