Hi, Ive had my eyebrow done for about 4 months and it still hasnt healed, now my piercer has told me its because i have some form of cyst, which he simplified and told me it was some kind of pimple(cant remeber the full name, began with an f___ cyst)
he recommended me to use germolene for a few days until it cleared up, so i did that, has been about 8 days now, no real improvement, so does anyone have any advice? im about 2 days away from popping it and sea salt soaking the fuck out of it!
thanks :)
Pete

If it is a cyst, see what a doc has to say about it.

what kind of metal is in it?
i have metal allergies, and since i've always been okay with gold, i got my eyebrow done with what i thought was a solid gold barbell with solid gold balls. for the first 5 months or so, though the piercing seemed fine, next to one end, there was a bump that would on occasion bleed. finally i got fed up and switched out the piece to bioplast. the balls weren't solid gold.. so the bottom one was causing some issues with my face.
it's been about 3 1/2 years now, and it's still spiffy.

What is germolene??

Do you have a picture, so we can all have a look at it?

Are you sure it's not hypertrophic scarring?

Is there fluid it in it at all, or is it solid?

So many questions haha

there is fluid in it, it keeps seeping out when the bar moves, the bar is implant grade titanium, that i was pierced with, and my mother is a nurse and wants me to use polyfax, an antibiotic ointment, which my piuercer told me was a HUGE no no.
Germoline is an antiseptic cream, and my camera is broken atm, but it looks and feels like a pimple, and has a small yellow head on the surface.

i wouldn't think germoline would get rid of a cyst.

cysts are different to spots in that they are a sack filled with puss and crap like that. they're under the barrier of skin, so can't be popped. (think of milk spots.. they are mini cysts under the skin and they are very very difficult to get rid of on your own)

what you're explaining sounds like it's a type of spot or abscess, and maybe antibiotics would do the trick.
well i might have somethin' to say about that, space man!

go to the doctor asap! dont take the piercing out as it will trap it when healing

I would check with a GP, this is probably something easily sorted. Terri-Sian is right about not risking trapping a cyst inside a healed piercing.

It could be a boil or simply just a pimple.  Try hot compresses or hot sea salt soaks (which you should still be doing if it's not all the way healed).  The warmth will increase blood flow.  If it looks like it's getting a head, it will likely pop on it's own when ready and drain out.  At that point it should start to heal up.

I agree with Carrie. If it's got a head on it, it shouldn't be too difficult to get rid of.
Maybe try chamomile compresses as well as sea salt soaks!
