I always eat a good meal and then I will bring candy and orange juice I keep me going. I also bring music to keep my mind off the pain but that doesn't always work lol. My new artist likes to talk slot so that doesn't always help lol. Silly boys lol.

I may not have much advice about tattoos, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents, in regards to piercing and scarification procedures.

I typically make sure I have a decent meal about an hour before I go in. Something with carbs (bread, pizza, pasta, etc.) or something with fat or protein that will last, and something with sugar to act quickly. I'll usually bring some kind of juice and a snack if it's going to be a long procedure.

I typically wind up bringing a friend with me for several reasons. The most important is to have someone to drive me there and back. Usually on the way there, I'm a bundle of nerves, so having someone to drive makes it easier for me to calm myself down. After wards, it's nice to have someone to drive you back in case you're gushing blood or feeling dizzy or whacked out from the adrenaline rush. It's also nice to have someone at the shop so you can squeeze their hand if you need it.

Other than that, the only thing I bring is cash to pay with. Typically the morning of, I'll call the shop and try and get a rough estimate for how much they think the total cost will be, and I'll get enough out to cover than and tip, just to be prepared.

i'd definitely recommend most people have a big, proper meal before having work done, but with my scarification projects and more intense procedures i actually go on an empty stomach and don't eat anything during either. with food in my stomach i often get nauseated and have symptoms of someone who hasn't eaten properly. i make sure to have something to drink though.

i wouldn't recommend someone try my method unless they think they can handle it. :P

I usually bring the following

~a bag of almonds
~a granola bar
~ my tea tree oil chew sticks (omg, when she is in my armpit meat, I chew those to shreds)
~a big fat bottle of vitamin water or orange juice.

Cool thing about it is this is starting to become routine. As I pack them, I'm able to psych myself up for the tattoo session and calm my nerves. ^_^

-Uncle Rays Chips. Yes, the 79 cent ones with the story on the back and you have to guess which drug addiction he's referring to.

-Peace Tea. The monster competition for Arizona

-My P3n0r. I have to flash my artist at least twice during the session. He gets all red and embarrassed and I laugh.
