One of my teachers who used to be a piercer told a story of a guy who wanted to use Purell (hand sanitizer, which is basically alcohol with a bunch of crap added) to clean his PA.

Two of my sisters used Bactine on their navel piercings.
My younger sister basically told me to ignore everything my piercer told me about healing my nipples and she's never had hers done.
I like the way my skin feels when I'm wearing my rainbow jacket.

My lobes were stretched from a standard size to 4mm (6g I think) in one go.
OUCH!!!
Then I asked what I needed to do for aftercare (They had stretched my roommates lobes from 4mm to 6mm just before, and given her some sea salt). They told me I didn't need to do anything, and when I insisted, they gave me a bar of antibacterial soap.
They then proceeded to say that in a few weeks I could stretch to 6mm, and then to 8mm (so from 6g to 2g to 0g). Bang%20Head

I then started google-ing and found BodyMod ;-)
I talk too much.

things like peroxide for aftercare, things like that

A piercer of 20 years told me to use electrical tape to stretch my ears. Which is clearly not a good idea.  I didn't calll him out on it.. I just obviously didn't take his advice. Shakes%20Fist

I hear stupid aftercare on the internet everyday.
Using plumber's tape to stretch a piercing.
Coping with the dry skin that plumber's tape causes by constantly rubbing nasty smelly oil on it.

I have a good question though;
Has anyone ever seen an electrician carry bandaids with him?
What does an electrician do when he accidentally cuts a finger?

I was told that it was okay to stretch using silicone plugs. I used this method to stretch from a 0g to a 00g. *shudder* Thank god there were no lasting repercussions after I was informed of my mistake and had to baby my poor ears for over a month.

That was a very bad infection...

ah the stupidity of my local jewelry shop..
being naive at the time (not long ago at all)
i went in and asked what size i should put in after just a standard earring
they handed me a 3mm taper and said i could wear that for the week until i could stretch to 5mm.

when i asked them for aftercare for my nipples they handed me a jar of what smelt like methylated spirits

when my navel became infected they advised me to take the jewelry out to clean it and the piercings at least twice a day, and if that failed, to take them all out.

*sigh* i thank bodymod for making me see sense xD
