Yep, that's right. Today when I got to the shop we had a notice in the mail stating that microdermals(dermal anchors) are now illegal in the state of Montana. We can't even have the jewelry on display. Which sucks because we just ordered $400 in microdermal jewelry. Microdermals are considered a surgical procedure. It is added to the list of cutting muscles, dental modification, implants, saline injection, vacuum pumping, circumcision, castration, penectomy, and subincision or superincision of genitals.

It's bullshit considering the definition of body piercing in Montana is thus: penetrating the skin to make a hole, or scar that is generally permanent in nature." That's exactly what a microdermal is. You make a hole then put the jewelry in. According to the state it's a surgical procedure and an implant but I don't think it should be considered an implant since it's not completely under the skin. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to outlaw surface piercings.

Well...here's the problem. Only a surgeon can do a microdermal, but you know they won't have the jewelry. And most of the time you can't get microdermal jewelry unless you're a shop. Even if you are a shop you can't have microdermal jewelry anymore. That means there's no way for someone to legally get a microdermal in Montana. |
