If any of you have watched Se7en, the killer shaves off the skin from his fingertips repeatedly to remove his fingerprints.

I wonder if either through branding or skin peeling or scarification this would be possible?

Keeping in mind that whenever you cut your finger, the new skin forms into the original fingerprint....

What do you guys think? Could this be viable?

[i reckon it'd be considered illegal if found out though haha]

Perplexing people since 1986

I have no idea if that would work.
However, if you get large calluses on your fingertips, your finger prints turn into a smudge. And considering calluses can only be removed podiatrist, or Salicylic acid, you have a pretty permanent solution Smile

I remember a movie where the guy burnt his fingertips really badly and the skin which grew back was all lumpy and burnt, not in the shape of his fingerprints.

But that was a movie, I have no idea if it would work in RL. :)

I've got problems of my own, but not the kind that can be solved with an atom bomb.

The only thing you can do is distort the fingerprints you technically cant remove them. But distorted fingerprints are almost just as recognizable as normal ones. Though a computer wouldn't be able to read it as it works o the points on your fingerprints of which you have something like 7-9 or some shit I forget its been awhile since I looked into this. But yeah they could jut manually match up your distorted prints to any sort of print you may leave at a crime scene. Latex gloves work much better and are a lot less painful. That is if you were going to commit any sort of crimes. Which I'm not and I don't ever.

In an old edition of the guiness book of records there was a photo of a gangster who had his fingerprints removed, I think they were burnt off. Unfortunately I cannot remember the gang or the technique, meh :0(

When I was much much younger I got bored (GCSE revision!) and did a strike branding on my finger pad... I've no idea what finger it was on now because the fingerprint grew back as it was before

That could have been because I was much younger and had crappy tools though ;)

I crashed my motorbike last halloween and took a big slice out of my middle finger and now all I have there is a slight raising but even that has a finger print on it now! Damn things seem determined to grow back!

I remember seeing a kinda skin peel type thing on CSI (or something similar) where the bits of finger tip was sliced off and replaced in a different way so the fingerprint was chopped up.. .but again, that was TV and not real life...

I think it'd be slightly illegal to do so purposely, wouldn't it? Nothing
Glimmi says: But yeah theres that old saying you can't judge a book by it's cover, cause it could have like 60 piercings in it's cock......Well that's not how the saying actually goes but you get my point.

afaik it's pretty much impossible to remove your fingerprints, whatever you do to hurt your fingertips the skin grows back with the same pattern in it.
Maybe if you slice the entire fleshy part off, or why not amputate? haha

Sorry Metalbabe, looks like you'll just have to wear gloves while you kill people.
