I had a vertical bridge for eight months, but I've seen them last longer and shorter than that. I had severe scarring and have an awesome mark on my face, which I tried to cleverly cover with a tattoo. If you're worried about scarring, I wouldn't go through with it unless you find a reputable piercer. What is the rejection rate on vertical bridge piercings? I have my nape pierced with a PTFE bar. No, its not shaped liked a surface bar, its straight. Ive had it for ages and it seems to have healed fine. I've not had any problems with it. Im guessing it'll probs grow out eventually, but do u think there is any chance at all to save it by getting a piercer to change it to a surface bar?
