They had ti tophat tunnels put in and I just bumped one out by mistake (went back in no bother after a clean).

In my case my original piercings were too low down so they looked unbalanced so I went to see Angelfetus and he removed some flesh at the top of my piercings (I was at 12mm one ear and 10mm the other) taking them both to 16mm. Until he put them in me and I saw them in the mirror my plan was to stretch up to 20mm once I'd downsized and restretched to thicken my lobes up a bit. I found that when I saw them at 16mm that I was happy with them at that size so for now at least I plan to just leave them alone size wise (will think about smaller tunnels in a few months to downsize and restretch for thickening my lobes)

You may deside on your way up to 1" that you like them a smaller size than you planed for in your head but you've been taking your time with your lobes anyway and am presuming your only getting cut to reposition them so you'll have plenty of time to get to your goal size.

I hope that if you've not had you appiontment yet your work goes well.
If you have externally threaded jewelery you are damaging the fistula to do so repeatedly. If you have internally threaded, the force and curvature is capable of irritating the hole also. If the jewelry is poor polish, this is also an issue. If the jewelry is poor materials you may be developing a sensitivity.

Leave it in, leave it alone and see what it does.

Edited by MontanaPiercer - Today at 12:23pm

But lately, my septum has been hurting quite a bit more than usual, and now when I take out the jewelry to clean it, there are crusties on it. Not to mention the horrendously foul odor.
Could I have irritated it somehow? I've been blowing my nose a lot lately ('tis the season). Any advice?

Piercings : Septum stretching pain

    Author: jamie138
Subject: Septum stretching pain
Posted: February/04/2012 at 10:26am

my personal experience of stretching, was for a while every second stretch hurt. I started at 2.4mm(10g) and am currently at 7.2mm (between 2g and 0g) so after the first stretch i went back to the shop to ask if they'd sold me the same size of jewelry. It was so easy i didn't believe there'd been a stretch at all. The next one was pretty bad, followed by another painless one. Then 4g to 2g was brutal. i was a bit spaced out after and at the time my nose and eyes ran like taps, and my face was swollen for maybe a week after. It turned out, my piercer thinks, that i cracked my cartlige. Since then i've stretched to 7.2mm which was real easy, i had pain from above the piercing to my teeth for a coupla days and that was that. It took me a while to realise that the problem with the painful stretches was that the easy ones made me cocky and i wouldnt wait long enough for the next one. I've never used massages or bio oil/vit e etc on my septum, just lube. I was worried about using something like bio oil (which i use on my lobes) in my nose, as i'm not 100% on the ingredients of it?

sorry, went on a ramble.

personally, instead of using a taper, i'd use piercing cresents, or septum bullets. It could be just as painful as the piercing, probably more so. depending on how much space there is between the jewelry and your cartilige. (i have no space) Just go slow and steady, be ready for the discomfort and give plenty of time to heal between stretches.
I had mine scalpelled out to 6mm originally, and am currently 18mm with incredibly stretchy thick lobes. Not an inch yet, but not far off!
Once they heal up, you may find it hard to keep jewelry in lol, it took a good 4 months min until they were healed, but after the 6 month mark every month I'd slip in new jewelry- I didn't even know the troubles of stretching and not having bigger sizes glide in until I hit the 14mm mark!
