The hostel is booked for the six of us that paid the deposit. Because there is six of us, it does mean that there is a possibility of 2 other randomers being in our dorm, but I figured that seeing as we'll outnumber them, they shouldn't be any hassle :)
I've also messaged Dan to get in touch so we can try and get him in the same room as us for the night he is staying.

Whilst booking, the woman told me that it is standard procedure for the hostel to ask for a deposit on arrival, in case of damages, which will be refunded when we check out (providing that we haven't trashed the place).  This is probably gonna be about 50 euros per person, so if people could try and make sure that they have that available, as I can't really afford to put down a 300 euro deposit.

Now all we gotta do is start saving up and getting our livers in training.

Oh yeah, and my flights have changed too, I think Ryanair have updated their whole schedule.  This happened to me once before, but didn't cause any real problems.

OK, so I got back on the case, and it appears that the hostel is now gonna be about £15 per night per person (damn my tardiness costing us all) still not bad I reckon.
 Anyways, I got an 8 bed dorm prebooked, anyone that wants in on this one should email me at:

I will need a £15 (first night) deposit ASAP to secure the room.  If there are more than 8 people respond I can probably get them to increase the size of the dorm without too much hassle.  At the moment this is only open for people who are staying for the duration of the trip (8th - 13th)

I'll be setting up a paypal account, hopefully later on tonight, to receive deposits. When I get your emails, I'll send you the details of the account.

So I've got an email back from the hostel that I was looking at.  Based on 8 people sharing a dorm, the total cost for the 5 nights would be . . .

€400    ( € means euros apparently )

That's only €10 per night each. Pretty damned good I reckon. It won't be posh or anything but I can live with that.  Opinions?

Right then people.  I'm finally getting round to trying to sort out this whole

Dublin Piss Up thing.  I've got a couple of ideas for a hostel, but before I go any further with things, I need to know how many people I'm gonna be booking for.

Could you please PM me back to let me know:
    1. If you are definitely coming
    2. If you are gonna be with us for the duration of the trip
    3. If you are happy with hostel accomodation. (I am trying to fit us all
in the same room if possible)
   
I'll obviously try and match price with value for money and location, so we may not end up in the very cheapest hostel, but hopefully it will be the best all
rounder that I can find.

After I know how many people are definitely booking for the duration of the stay, I will get onto the hostels, and try to provisionally book.  After that I will be asking people for deposits.  This will more than likely be the price of the

first nights accomodation, but I will get back to you all with the info as soon as it is available.

So I've been looking at hostels for the time that we're there.  Based on the 8 of us that are confirmed, sharing a dorm, the cheapest that I've found is just over £78 each for the 5 nights. That's about £15.63 per night.
How does that sound to people?
Anyone found anything cheaper?

The more people that are coming the cheaper it'll get, so if anyone else wants to confirm . . .

Also, as a point of interest, Ryanair have a sale on until thursday @ midnight, £40 off return flights.  Might be worth checking out for those who are interested and haven't booked flights yet.

edit: the ryanair sale would mean that you could get the same flights that must of us are on for £19.98 return (inc. all taxes etc, but not including payment processing charges. I think thats about £8 now)

That would be the dorms that I mentionedWink It'll all depend on how many people we et and how many are comfortable with sharing a room with a large nmber of people.  I know a lot of people like to have their personal space.  What could be a possibility, again depending on how many people we get etc, is a hostel with group rooms and private doubles or something similar.  That way we'd all be staying in the same place, could share the common areas etc, and the people that are slumming it get it their way, as do the more private people.
 
That sounds like a good idea, I'll be up for that. If I carry out my plans of travelling to Canada and America in October/November I too need to keep the Dublin meet as cheap as possible

edit: The biggest hostel dorm that I ever stayed in was a 44 bed mixed dorm in Sweden.  My God did that room stink in the morning.  44 people sweating and farting all night. Nice!

I'm just thinking about making it as affordable as possible for people.  I know that I won't have all that much money after 4 foreign holidays and at least one UK festival in the six months leading up to it.  Less money on accomodation = more money for enjoying the waking hours :-)

Wether or not we can get one dorm with just us in it will all depend on numbers.

Might be worth checking out? The card costs £9 and gives discounts worldwide (good for travellers) you have to be between 12 and 26 when applying for it but dont have to be a student :]
 
Alternatively buy a 16-25 railcard online at the moment and get free YHA membership. I'm bummed I have to miss out on that one
 
I also just found out if you have a 16-25 railcard (new name for young persons) you can get a ISIC (international student identity card)  or IYTC card for £6.75
Also 25% discount on bed and breakfast stays at over 400 participating Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Express by Holiday Inn hotels across the UK, Europe and Middle East with the railcard

OK, so bewleys would be 89 euros a night per room. Max of 2 adults per room. 
Personally, I'm all for keeping accomodation costs as low as possible (more money for beer), so I was thinking about a hostel.  Depending on how many of us there is, we could probably just get a big dorm for us all for about a tenner a night each.

What would everybody else want to do?

Well, as a lot of you will know I appear to have accidently started the ball rolling on a bit of a Bmod holiday.

The plans (if you can call them that) involve heading over to Dublin to get drunk for 5 days.

We're flying out on the 8th Jan and returning to London on the 13th. (Obviously if some people have other plans to meet up with us at some point, we'll do our bestest to accomodate everyone)

If anybody else is interested in coming along, just give us a shout.  Everybody's welcome!

OK, so I got back on the case, and it appears that the hostel is nowgonna be about £15 per night per person (damn my tardiness costingus all) still not bad I reckon.
 Anyways, I got an 8 bed dorm prebooked, anyone that wants in on this one should email me at:

Iwill need a £15 (first night) deposit ASAP to secure the room.  Ifthere are more than 8 people respond I can probably get them toincrease the size of the dorm without too much hassle.  At the momentthis is only open for people who are staying for the duration of thetrip (8th - 13th)

I'll be setting up a paypal account, hopefullylater on tonight, to receive deposits. When I get your emails, I'llsend you the details of the account.
